Glen Lake News for Staff
March 9-13, 2020
Proud
And yes, our visitors sometimes see the not so expected or shiny parts of our school day too....and that's okay. When a student is having a hard time, I don't feel the need to hide it or turn the family in a different direction. This is because I am proud to see our staff consistently support students who are having a challenging time with patience and understanding. I believe this shows just as much about who we are as a school as the great things that they see. Thank you for doing what you do everyday to make Glen Lake what it is.

Student Snacks
However, we are starting to see more and more students asking for a snack from Mark, especially when word gets out that there is a "fan favorite" snack available. The PBIS team discussed this at our last meeting, and we predict that some students may be taking advantage of the free snacks. To help address this, we are asking for your help. Below are a few points that PBIS discussed for you to consider and implement if you are interested:
-teacher regulation is most effective. Teachers know which students routinely don't have a snack and are in need, and which students may be taking advantage.
-save apples and other fruit that are left over from breakfast that students don't eat. These can be stored in a bin and offered to students who don't have a snack
-connect with Mark and get snacks to store in a bin in your classroom. This helps teachers regulate who needs a snack while also minimizing the time students are out of the classroom and roaming the halls looking for Mark to get a snack.
Thanks for your help on this!
