Wednesday, November 8--Potato Lunch provided for all staff for having 100% participation for hospitality dues!

Thursday, November 9--Spirit Day & Staff Meeting @ 7:45 am. This is an additional meeting to address PBIS only. We will still have our November 30 staff meeting.

Monday, November 13--Picture Retakes

Tuesday, November 14--Papa John's Night (PTO fundraiser--order pizza from Papa John's and 20% will go to the school if you mention Robison)

Wednesday, November 15--Writing Committee Planning (8 am- 12 pm). Teachers on this committee have been notified. The committee will work to address our concerns for writing and to begin the development of a school-wide writing plan. Subs will be provided.

Tuesday, December 12-- Family Night at Holiday Shop (5 to 7 pm)

Veterans Day (Friday, November 10)

This will be a truly special day for everyone! In order to provide sufficient parking for our guests, we ask that you park at the movie theater across the street. Administrators will shuttle you over to Robison beginning at 7:45 am. This is a day where we will dress in red, white, and/or blue; however, we are not wearing jeans on this day (Spirit Day has been moved to Thursday).

On Tuesday, Christi Moran and I are meeting with someone from the technology department to see if we can figure out how to stream the ceremony into the Kindergarten-3rd grade classrooms. We are hoping it will also be recorded in case you are unable to watch it live due to your schedule. We will let you know if we are able to do this as soon as we know.

Thank you to our amazing committee members, and a special thank-you to Laura Huffman for chairing this committee. Barbara Holsome has been working hard to prepare our students for this program, and I know they will do an outstanding job. Bring your tissues for this day!

Wow Me Wednesday

Our next "Wow Me Wednesday" will be on November 8. John, Courtney, and I will be available from 10 am to 11 am in the library to visit with students who want to share something with us. It can be a story they've written, a grade they are proud of, and it can even just be something they want to share that they are excited about. We hope to be "WOWED" by many students!

End of Day Duty Reminders

For those that have bus duty at the end of the day, please be sure that you are assisting with bus dismissal until all buses have left. Some staff members are responsible for taking cards as students load buses, while others are responsible for monitoring students in the cafeteria as they walk to their buses. If you are unsure of your responsibility during this time, please see Courtney. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe during dismissal.

Voting on November 7

As a reminder, voting will take place on November 7. Robison is a polling site; therefore, all lunches will take place in the classroom on this day. This will also be a day that we will not allow lunch visitors. This information was communicated in the Rocket Register; however, please speak to your students about this on Monday. We will be using the cafeteria for voting in order to keep the voters away from the instructional areas.

If you did not vote early, you will need to vote at your polling site. There is a school board election, and I cannot stress enough to you that local elections have the potential of having a great impact on each of us. Please do not assume that others will take the responsibility of educating themselves and voting on our behalf. If educators alone voted in all elections, we could swing just about any election. Sadly, we have a record of low voter turnout. Sally will be happy to provide a jeans pass to you after you vote.

Thankful for Our Volunteers!

I think we all know how amazing our volunteers are at Robison. This month alone (which only has 3 weeks), they will have helped with the following:

Super Citizens Day

Colonial Day

Veterans Day

Nature Trails

SRC demonstrations

Box Top Collections

WATCH D.O.G.S.

Take-home readers

Organizing Papa John's Pizza Night and TX Roadhouse Rolls Fundraisers

Providing Delicious Apples for each staff member

In October our volunteers helped with Boosterthon, Book Fair, popcorn for the staff, Picture Day, and health screenings, and December will be another remarkable month!

During this month when it is popular to give thanks to others, please help me in swarming our PTO with notes of appreciation. We have a PTO meeting on Monday, November 13, and I'd love to bring them a box filled with notes of appreciation. Students can write letters, but it would also be wonderful to have a personal note from each staff member. I will get a decorative box for these and will keep it in my office. Please take a moment next week to write a note and drop it in the box. I'll bring these to the PTO meeting on November 13.

Thank you!

Personal Leave Requests

Please be sure to complete a personal leave request (attached below) prior to taking personal leave. If you are wanting a particular sub, you are responsible for contacting the person and then indicating on the form that they have accepted the job. Sally will then be able to put that sub in for you. Please do not suggest someone for Sally to contact. This takes too much time for her to do this for each person. If you do not secure your own sub, Sally will put in your job and it will be open for anyone to pick up.

November/December Twitter Challenge #RESholidaybingo

Congratulations to our October Twitter Challenge winners: Stacie Moreland, Jennifer Vargas, Emily Gunn, Connie Kubis, Christi Moran, and Kelly Oetken

This next challenge is similar to our Summer Selfie Bingo Challenge. This is a Holiday Bingo Challenge. You will receive one drawing slip per bingo (up to 5 bingos) and 6 drawing slips if you get a blackout! When you complete a challenge on the bingo card, you'll need to post a picture (or video) of you completing the task AND a picture of the bingo card with that square marked off. Save the picture below to use in your posts. If you need help with how to mark the card or how to post the picture, there are several staff members that can help--just ask! Have fun with this one!!
