Novel Study
This week we will be starting a new novel study. My homeroom will be reading The Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop and Mrs. Thomas's class will be reading The Borrowers by Mary Norton. Student will be able to bring these books home. Please take care of the books so we can return all of them to the library. Books are $4.00 to replace if lost or damaged. Students will be required to read one chapter a night and complete the study guide questions that go along with the reading. Both books are fun fantasies and I know they will enjoy reading them.
AR points
Since we are doing a novel study and student homework requirements will increase to prepare for upcoming testing I am lowering all student required AR points to 5. This is effective immediately and will be until further notice. I still want to encourage students to read for fun and to read books of their choosing, but I don't want them to be overworked or become stressed about their required reading.
Also, the novel study counts towards AR points!
