For those new to North, you are invited to attend our New Mustang Night on August 11, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Information is located below regarding information on that event.
This update was sent, via text, to all families yesterday. All BVSD high school student schedules will be viewable in ParentVue and StudentVUE on Tuesday, August 10 at 8:00 a.m. instead of today, August 6.
Action is needed by every family to complete Online Registration and Fee Payment in ParentVUE. Health information and other acknowledgements need a new update annually, and this tells us your student is returning to Blue Valley North. Also, Athletic Participation Packets are due Friday, August 13 for Fall Sports (Cross Country, Football, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Tennis, Girls' Golf and Volleyball). See BVN Athletics, in this newsletter, for a link to the packet.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 18, 7:40 a.m.-2:55 p.m. and Freshmen/New Student Orientation is the day before on August 17, 7:40 a.m.–10:45 a.m. Visit the BVN school calendar for the most accurate information: www.easternkansasleague.org .
We are anticipating more guidance from our district and board regarding Covid mitigation strategies next week. All information regarding this will be communicated to all Blue Valley families. As we enter a new school year amid a continuing pandemic, the safety of our students is always paramount, and keeping our students in school – in person – is critical to their long-term success and well-being.
Stay well, stay safe and take good care!

BVN Athletics
Student-Athletes Action Needed for 2021-22
The athletic physical form has been updated for the 2021-22 season. If your student will be participating in a KSHSAA sponsored sport at Blue Valley North in the upcoming school year, every student-athlete needs a new physical completed, signed and dated (May 1, 2021, or after) by a physician. Here is a link to all the forms & physical on the BVN website PHYSICAL2021. We encourage you to get this completed over the summer. The physical is just part of the paperwork required. All forms need to be printed, read, signed by a parent and student, and returned to BVN by August 13 by 3:00 p.m. Please get your paperwork in early so your student doesn't have to wait in a long line.
Attention Lady Golfers and Parents (new)
The summer is underway and any lady golfer should be preparing for our upcoming fall season. Please e-mail Coach Lierz Davis at jlierz@bluevalleyk12.org if you have a daughter who is thinking about coming out for the team so that she can communicate directly with you regarding any possible summer meetings and to give you direction regarding tournaments and places to practice. This will also get you added to the group e-mail to communicate information regarding tryouts, etc. Thanks!
Volleyball Team
Do you have an incoming 9th grader interested in VOLLEYBALL next fall? Please fill out this interest form. https://forms.gle/6CCBWTaeB6RWXLAp7 Email Coach Allin, MAllin@bluevalleyk12.org , with any questions.
Please Join The Mustang Club during 2021-22!
Our parent community has been integral in contributing to our status as one of the best high schools in the state of Kansas and a leading high school across the nation.
Please support The Mustang Club (the former BVN Parent Booster Club). It financially supports BVN's extracurricular activities (similar to a PTO/PTA), and over the last 6 years, has granted over a half million dollars to support our school’s extracurricular activities, organizations, and athletic teams. We could not provide the depth and breadth of opportunities without your help through memberships and donations of your time.
The Mustang Club needs your support! Membership is down and volunteers are in short supply. Here are some options for you to consider:
· Become a Mustang Club member at one of the five membership levels;
· Purchase spirit wear from The Mustang Club website (www.bvnmustangs.com);
· Volunteer on a Mustang Club committee to support a specific event or cause; and
· Take advantage of sponsorships for companies wanting to support BVN financially.
Visit The Mustang Club website at www.bvnmustangs.com. This organization is completely run by parent volunteers so every dollar donated goes to benefit BVN students. It is a 501(c)3 organization so your contributions are tax deductible.
Thank you for your support and consideration and GO MUSTANGS!

National Honor Society Info for 2021-22 School Year
Are you a current Sophomore or Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher? Are you interested in being a candidate for National Honor Society induction in the fall? If so, please read on. Students need 40 hours of community service from January 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021. These hours must come from non-profit organizations. We will not count hours such as walking dogs, babysitting a neighbor, helping someone move, tutoring, etc. Students should already be on x2VOL, the platform that tracks hours, and should be recording and verifying hours on this online platform. An individual from the organization must verify hours with an email that is from a .org email address. Look online for opportunities that are posted on the x2VOL website. If you are questioning if hours work, please contact Mrs. Cornelius and Mrs. Stein to get prior authorization.
Information will be sent out in the fall. But, tentative dates for the initial information meeting are Tuesday, September 28, and Wednesday, September 29, 2021 (possible times are before school, after school or NT). Attendance at one of these two dates is mandatory! We will hand out all information to students at this meeting. Other than community service hours, students are not working on anything else before this meeting. Mandatory induction practice is Monday, November 8, 2021 at 7:00am and Mandatory Induction is Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 6:30pm. Feel free to reach out to Ms. Cornelius (acornelius@bluevalleyk12.org) or Mrs. Stein (sistein@bluevalleyk12.org) with any questions.

New Vaccine Requirement - 2021-2022 School Year
Dear parents/guardians of incoming 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th students,
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Immunization Program has implemented a new vaccine requirement for students entering 7th grade, 8th, 11th, and 12th grade in the 2021-22 school year. KDHE now requires two doses of the Meningococcal vaccine to be administered to maintain vaccine compliance.
- Meningococcal (Serogroup A,C,W,Y): Two doses required. Doses should be given at entry to 7th grade (11-12 years) and 11th grade (16-18 years). For children 16-18 years, only one dose is required.
- Phasing In Menigococcal (Serogroup A, C,W,Y): For the 2020- 2021 school year: Children entering 7th and 8th grade: one dose of MenACWY at school entry. Children entering 11th and 12th grade having received a previous dose: one dose of MenACWY at school entry will complete the series. Children entering 11th and 12th grade with no previous doses: one dose of MenACWY at school entry will complete the series.
Detailed immunization requirements by age group are listed on the 02/2019 version of the Kansas Certificate of Immunization (KCI).
Students who have begun, but have not completed the required immunizations, may enroll and remain in school while completing the required immunizations as quickly as permitted by immunization requirements, if a physician or local health department certifies that the student has received the most recent appropriate immunizations in all required series. Kansas law provides the following alternatives to immunizations:
- An annual written statement signed by a licensed physician stating the physical condition of the child to be such that the tests or inoculations would seriously endanger the life or health of the child; or
- A written statement signed by one parent or guardian that the child is an adherent of a religious denomination whose religious teachings are opposed to such inoculations.
All immunization decisions should be made by the family physician or the Johnson County Health Department. If your child has transferred to Blue Valley, you are responsible for providing records that document the immunizations either have been completed or are in the process of completion. If a student’s immunizations are not current (most recent appropriate inoculation in all series) or current immunization waivers, specifically religious or medical waivers, are not in place; the student will be excluded from school.
Student health requirements are important as we partner with families to create a safe and effective learning environment. All health forms must be completed and returned to the school nurse prior to the first day of school.
Your school nurse will be glad to answer any questions. Blue Valley North’s school nurse is Amanda Collichio and she can be reached by email at AJCollichio@bluevalleyk12.org or by phone at (913) 239-3013.
