Start Smart Salary Negotiation Workshop
Thursday, October 12, 2017
4:30 -6:30 p.m.
MLC 207
This event is only open to 40 students. You must register in order to attend. See details below.
The University of Georgia Career Center will present the American Association of University Women's (AAUW) Start Smart Salary Negotiation workshop on our campus. AAUW’s Start Smart program is designed to empower women with the skills and confidence to successfully negotiate their salary and benefits packages. By learning strategies and practicing effective language, participants gain valuable skills they can use throughout their lives — well beyond their next negotiation.
As a result of participating in this session, you will learn how to…
- Understand the gender pay gap, including its personal consequences
- Quantify the market value of your education, skills, and experience
- Conduct objective market research and determine a fair target salary
- Create a strategic pitch and respond to salary offers
While the AAUW workshop focuses on women, this workshop is open to all UGA students. Regardless of your gender, you will find this workshop informative. To register for this event, log in to your Handshake account and visit this link.
Grady College Resume Critiques
12-4 p.m.
Peyton Anderson Forum
Resumes are an important professional tool, so come get yours reviewed by the Career Center, including Grady College Career Consultant Samantha Meyer. This session will fall the week before AdPR Connection, an important time to update materials.
All Grady and Intended-Grady students are welcome to drop in for a 10-15-minute resume critique, conveniently located in the Journalism Building. Please bring a printed copy of your resume.
Career Panel for Grady Students
Tuesday, October 24
5-6:30 p.m.
MLC 171
Attend this panel to hear from employers interested in the skills you have gained in your communications major. We will discuss a few of the many options available to you as a Grady or communications major, which may not be a traditional communications role.
Learn more about what these opportunities look like, how you can use your communications skill set to your advantage in these roles, and how to connect with the employers attending. Hear from employers from Cintas, Facebook and Thyssenkrupp. Additional employers may be added, so keep checking back.
