Extra, Extra!
Economic News Investigation: Description, Samples, Resources
Assignment Information
The objective of this assignment is to enhance your understanding of the topics we have been studied in this class & relate these topics to the real world. Points shall be awarded for searching out news articles & completing a written analysis of the article. These articles on a local, state, national, or international level.
Your analysis should include one paragraph of at least 5-6 sentences. These sentences will summarize the article AND detail why this article is relevant to this Economics class. Consider this as a format: two sentences of summary and four sentences of analysis.
The analysis must include your definition of the topic you have selected and why you think this article is connected to that topic.
This writing must be in your own words - not copied from a textbook, website, or the article! YOU summarize what the article presented. YOU show why it is important or interesting. YOU pick a topic and explain why you though it was related.
Below you will find three samples of what your completed News Investigations could look like, two based on articles found online & one based on a YouTube video clip. You will also find a set of links that may be helpful in finding articles - but you do not "have to" use these! Find any article YOU think fits one of the topics and go for it!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: At the end of this Smore you will find a list of topics & resources that you could relate your articles to as you complete these write-ups.
"The Great Recession! It's right behind you!"

"Cotton: Planet Money Makes a T-Shirt"
"Durable Goods Boost Economy!"
Of particular importance in this growth was the demand for airplanes & automobiles. For example, the demand for airplanes was so strong that durable goods orders greatly exceeded the projected 7.5% gain for July.
