Eagle Crest Family Newsletter
March 17th, 2022
Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
Thank you so much to everyone who attended our virtual PTO meeting this morning. I was thrilled to see such a great turn-out and I was reminded again how thankful I am to have such a supportive community among our families.
Thank you also to everyone who has been so flexible with quick adjustments for both indoor and outdoor arrival. Safety is our top priority, but with the quickly changing Colorado weather we need to be on our toes to make sure our students and staff stay dry, warm, and ready to learn. When the weather clears up throughout the day, we often adjust to send kids outside, so your best bet is to pack layers and make sure your children are ready for outdoor play.
I can’t believe we are already heading into Spring Break! This year is really flying by, AND we do have just over eight weeks left to learn, grow, and explore as a school community. I hope you have both a joyful and restful Spring Break!
Warmly,
Amanda

Dean of Students Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
We are very grateful to be able to connect with you every week through this newsletter. We love sharing updates and announcements about all of the exciting things your students are doing at school! Sometimes we have information that needs to reach you immediately for weather updates, arrival, or student club meetings. We communicate the majority of that information through our Infinite Campus Text Message system. If you are not receiving text messages from Eagle Crest you can update those preferences in the Campus Parent Portal. See the screenshots below for a guide to change those settings. If you need help, Dinah in the office can also help you change those settings.
I hope you have a wonderful and restful Spring Break!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students

ECES Reading Challenge - SO CLOSE TO OUR GOAL!
Mrs. Beckett is so excited that we are very close to our Schoolwide Reading Challenge goal! Last week students read 20,000 minutes. That brings us to 475,000 total reading minutes read this year! We just need to read 25,000 more minutes! So find a great book and get some reading done over Spring Break. Just 30 minutes a day for five days will get us to our goal! So keep up the great work and READ, READ, READ!
What’s happening at Mwebaza Annex School in Uganda:
Today, as you are reading this, a team from the Mwebaza Foundation are on their way to Uganda. They are traveling about 27 hours and will land in Entebbe March 18th about 10:30 pm local time. Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Hansen and 3 other team members will spend about 3 weeks visiting and working alongside the students, teachers and community members of the four partner schools in Uganda.
Mrs. Cooper created a blog for all students, families and classrooms to enjoy. The goal is to add a couple of photos and sentences each day. Please follow if you are interested. There is the opportunity to comment or ask questions.

Last week all Eagle Crest classrooms were on a video call with our partner school in Uganda. We enjoyed an hour of singing, dancing, poetry reading, asking and answering questions. The Mwebaza Annex Club did an awesome job leading the event from the gym, while classes watched from their rooms. At the end we all enjoyed a “toast” to our partnership with a small cup of Passion Fruit Juice, a drink that is common for celebrations in Uganda.
Lastly we want to announce that our Eagle Crest fundraising project to build a bore hole well on the Mwebaza Annex school grounds has now been completely funded! We have a new corporate sponsor, a parent of a student in the Sunset Middle School Club, who funded the rest of the cost of building the well. We are so excited to get that organized while in Uganda and be able to begin the project soon. Congratulations Mwebaza Annex Club for all your hard work making this happen!
Happy Spring Break!

100 Mile Club
Our 100 Mile Club has been greatly impacted by snowy, cold mornings and a muddy track. We are crossing our fingers for warmer weather ahead, and we are excited to re-invite students and families to participate.
100 Mile Club is a long standing tradition at ECES and it is a great opportunity for your students to improve their health awareness, social well-being, and build self-confidence as they reach goals along the way.
Over the course of the spring we will be running laps on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, in order to reach the big goal of completing 100 miles! Students in grades K-1 must be accompanied by an adult, but all families are welcome to join us. In fact, in the past many families have shared that this has been a great opportunity to connect with others and make friends in the community. We would also love to have some extra parent volunteers each morning to help us help the students track their laps/miles.
As students reach milestones along the way they will be awarded with incentives. At the completion of the first 25 miles, your student will receive a 100 Mile Club t-shirt. Once your student reaches 50 miles they will receive a pencil. Upon reaching 75 miles, your student earns a wristband. Finally, when your child reaches 100 miles, they will be awarded a very special 100 Mile Club medal.
The registration cost for 100 Mile Club is $20 per runner this year. We have switched over to the ONLINE ONLY registrations again this year. As part of the online registration you will pay through Revtrak using the link below. All students must register online before arriving to 100 Mile Club in the morning.
