Message from the Principal

Black Bear Families,

I hope you had a great Winter Break, and enjoyed your family time together. Taking time to make special memories with those we love gives us the fuel to move forward during these very busy days.

The first week back after a longer break means our classroom teachers are spending time re-establishing their classroom routines and procedures that create positive and productive learning environments for our students.

Just so that you know, next Wednesday we have a staff inservice day, so students have that day off from school. These days provide opportunities for our staff to engage in purposeful professional development designed to support their classroom practices. This is a valuable time for our staff and we appreciate your understanding.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Working with you for kids,

Jim

BottleDrop Fundraiser TODAY! (And ongoing!)

Our blue bag bottle collection is today in front of the school from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Drop off your bags of bottles and cans! This doesn't mean the fundraiser is over, though! You can drop your blue bags of bottles off at any BottleDrop location anytime from here on and the funds will go straight to the Tualatin Elementary PTA! Additional bags can be picked up at the school.

Feel free to take a bag to work and collect those cans in your offices and lunchrooms! Save the environment and support Tualatin Elementary at the same time!

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are calling your name

Hey friends, Tualatin Elementary PTA has the sweetest offer for you. By ordering a dozen (or two) original glazed doughnuts, you can treat your family to the freshest doughnuts in town and 50% of the order will be donated back to Tualatin Elementary PTA!

From now until January 16, you can get your dozens using our fundraising sales page below.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for Tualatin Elementary PTA

How it works: purchase your dozens online, visit your nearest Krispy Kreme store & redeem using your code. You can also purchase doughnuts and gift them to friends and family, or perhaps some well deserving colleagues! Dozens are redeemable nationwide, so feel free to share this page with other doughnut lovers!

Thank you in advance for your support, we hope you enjoy this sweet offer.

Work at Your Child's School!

Looking for a part-time job while your children are in school, working with great people and making a difference in children's lives? Come work at Tualatin Elementary! We are hiring a Recess Ranger, Food Service Assistant, and Title One Assistant! Recess Rangers spend 2.75 hours supervising students at lunch recess, keeping students safe and enjoying the fresh air! Our food service assistant works 3.5 hours a day assisting Aggi in the cafeteria, preparing and serving nutritious food to our students. Our Title One assistants work 3.5 hours a day, providing literacy support to our students in small groups and one-on-one.

If you are interested in either of these positions, reach out to the office for more information (503-431-4800) or apply directly here.

Meet our Newest Bus Driver

Students riding bus #37 are seeing a new face in the driver's seat! Bo has completed her training and onboarding and is excited to get your students safely to school each day! Remind your students to be safe, kind, and responsible on the bus.

Read-a-thon Planning Meeting

The next Read-a-thon Committee meeting to help plan our spring Read-a-thon is Thursday January 12th at 7:30pm. This is a virtual meeting and the link is: https://meet.google.com/umu-vvyp-kby

Health Room Clothing Needed

Did you sort through clothes over Winter Break? Do you have gently-used clothing that you are planning to donate? Please keep the health room in mind. We are especially short on small (sizes 5-8) elastic-waist pants and underwear, although we are happy to accept all sizes! (And remember--for tax purposes, this may be an "in-kind" donation to the school!)

Fourth Grade Music Performance

Our fourth-graders have been hard at work preparing for their annual Oregon Trail Concert! In fourth grade, students learn Oregon history, participate in an Oregon Trail re-creation, and present a fabulous musical extravaganza! Join them on Thursday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m.
