Pine Street Elementary School
2023-2024
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) will once again conduct an online returning student registration process to confirm student registrations for the 2023-24 school year. Families of all current students—with the exception of graduating Grade 12 students—must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2023-24 school year or advise the Division of their plans not to return to EIPS. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space. The 2023-24 returning student registration takes place Feb. 1-28, 2023.
Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. For more information or assistance, contact the school office at 780-467-2246 or email general.pne@eips.ca

Fee Waiver Application Deadline
If circumstances exist where you are unable to pay school or transportation fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is December 15, 2022. If you’re new to the Division, the deadline is the latter of December 15, 2022, or 45 days after registration.
To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online using Visa or MasterCard. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted.
Do not forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities and more.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit www.eips.ca/schools/fees and www.pinestreet.ca Alternatively, contact Mrs. Lisa Waselenkoff, Business Manager at Pine Street, 780-467-2246 ext 6315.
First Nation Friday
During our morning announcements on Friday mornings, Mr. Howell does a First Nations information/teaching session.
For thousands of years there was a natural system of medicine in our land. It was the first inhabitants who perfected that system based on their knowledge of trees and plants.
The valuable knowledge Indigenous people had of plants and natural medicines enabled them to cure many illnesses. Did you know that it was First Nations people who cured the scurvy of the first Europeans to arrive here? The First Nations knew that this illness was not an infection, but the result of poor nutrition (a shortage of vitamin C in the diet).
Year-in-Review: Stakeholder Confidence Survey
As part of Elk Island Public Schools’ commitment to stakeholder engagement, the Division conducts an annual survey of staff, families, Grade 12 students and community partners—reflecting on the accomplishments of the prior school year. The EIPS Year in Review 2021-22: Stakeholder Confidence Survey is now open.
Complete the survey now
The survey is open until December 18, 2022.
To preview the questions before completing the survey, see Year in Review Survey 2021-22: Questions.
The survey covers a range of topics, including student growth and achievement, learning supports, teaching and leading, governance, and resource allocations. The information gathered will help EIPS:
- assess stakeholder confidence—families, staff, Grade 12 students and community partners;
- gather input to guide future decision-making;
- gather feedback to enhance its Four-Year Education Plan; and
- provide a platform for families, students, staff and community partners to have a voice in ensuring high-quality, student-centred learning environments in EIPS schools.
To support stakeholders in responding to the survey, key information is linked within each question. The information's culled from the Division's Annual Education Results Report 2021-22, which outlines the Division’s Four-Year Education Plan, opportunities for growth and how it’s supporting students to achieve the best possible outcomes.
