Welcome Back!

I'm so excited to have all our team members back in the building as we begin our second year at JMS! Our guest speaker, Kenneth Williams, will focus on building our professional learning communities (PLCs) in order to move our school forward in improving student achievement. Our focus for the upcoming school year will continue to be on our six strategic initiatives: Gradual Release Model, Literacy, Numeracy, AKS, eClass, & Leadership. All of these initiatives are supported by high performing PLCs. I'm ready to begin our journey of moving our students and school forward along the continuum of success.

Congratulations Ms. Chancey! Read about Ms. Chancey's STEM learning trip!

First Day of School

We are wearing our college shirts on the first day of school with students.

I'm All In!

Are you asking how can I be all in at JMS this school year? We have so many opportunities for you to support our students, school, and community. Please take a moment and share your talents with us as we work toward leading a community of excellence!

Team Schedules & Homerooms

If you have not made contact with your homeroom students, please work on that this week so that parents and students have a contact prior to Meet Your Teacher on August 4, 2016.

Please share with parents the following information:

Meet your Teacher is Thursday, August 4, 2016

6th Grade: 1:00 - 3:30 PM

7th Grade: 3:30 - 5:00 PM

8th Grade: 5:00 - 6:30 PM

First Day of School is Monday, August 8,, 2016: Wear a College or University Shirt

No online registration requirements this school year for returning students. If they have moved or will no longer be attending Jordan Middle, please take information and send an email to Karen Moore and Maria Gilbride (encourage parent to come into office).

First 20 Days

6th Grade will use The First 20 Days developed for the 2015-2016 school year. A new First 20 Days has been developed for 7th & 8th grade. All 7th & 8th grade teachers and connection teachers can "refresh" the use of the original First 20 Days, but will incorporate the new protocols into content lessons during August. Thank you to our team who developed our 2016-2017 First 20 Days!

Advisement Schedule

We are on Advisement Schedule for the first two weeks of school. Then, we go to our regular Wednesday Advisement Schedule. Updated lessons will be shared and posted on the JMS Training Page.

SPG Testing Schedule

This year we are required to test social studies and science for growth measures using the district assessment pre-tests. In addition, we will be completing SPG testing for connection teachers. As a result, we will need several laptop classrooms to administer the assessments online. Testing will begin on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Mr. Keag will publish the testing schedule on the JMS Training Page later this week.

Required HR Video & Training Modules

Please make sure to watch the less than 2 minute video by Dr. Frances Davis regarding our required training modules: JMS Training Page: Content: Back to School 2016: Human Resources. I will check on Thursday for completion rate.

Training Modules will be released 8;/1/16, so you can begin watching the require videos by registering in your PD&E Tool. Handout in your "important information" folder has steps to access training.
