Hybrid & Virtual Details
Please review the below information regarding student learning options. Please note that there have not been any changes since previously communicated.
Students in sixth through eighth grade have the choice of hybrid in person instruction or remain with virtual instruction beginning September 21, 2020.
The Hybrid in person instruction plan is as follows:
Mondays - all students will attend virtual instruction at home. School day will be from 9:05am - 4:00pm.
The in person school days (Tuesday - Friday) usual start time will be delayed by 30 minutes in order for teachers to connect with those students who have chosen virtual instruction. Bus schedule pick up times will be adjusted to accommodate for the later start.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays - students with the last name beginning with A-L will attend in person. As a result of the delay, bus drop off time will be at 9:20am and the in person school day will be from 9:35am - 4:00pm. Students with the last name beginning with M-Z will attend virtual instruction at home with the school day running from 8:50am - 4:00pm.
Thursdays and Fridays - students with the last name beginning with M-Z will attend in person. As a result of the delay, bus drop off time will be at 9:20am and the in person school day will be from 9:35am - 4:00pm. Students with the last name beginning with A-L will attend virtual instruction at home with the school day running from 8:50am - 4:00pm.
Universal masking will be a requirement. Students will be given instruction related to all of the safety protocols which have been put in place due to COVID-19.
The virtual instruction plan is as follows:
Virtual learning will continue to be a blend of instructional videos, independent guided practice and daily live check ins with their current classroom teachers. All class periods will start with a live Google Meet where virtual students will connect with their teacher/class. Teachers will also hold virtual office hours on Tuesday - Friday to support virtual students from 8:50am - 9:20am.
PHM Food Services for Fall 2020
A big thank you to the USDA, who announced that all meals served to students within PHM will be free until further notice. *Student accounts will still be charged for any ala-carte sales. Middle school and the high school will offer pre-packaged breakfasts at Grissom, Schmucker and Penn. Lunches will be served at all schools. Students will choose from pre-packaged meal components in the cafeteria. All middle schools and the high school will be offering take home meals for students. The meals will cover the days they are learning from home. Meals will be given out at the end of the day on Wednesday and Friday. The package will contain three breakfast and three lunch meals. Items will be frozen if possible and bags will have heating and storage instructions. Since Discovery does not serve breakfast, they will only have the three lunch meals. We will have meals available for the 100% virtual learners from all schools and the community. Meals will be distributed at Penn High School Door C from 4-6 pm on Wednesday and Friday. It will be the same type of bag with only four meals on Wednesday and six on Friday. Students do not need to be present for the parent or guardian to pick up meals. Student ID’s will not be required.
