Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
News from the Art Room
Greetings from the Prairie Point art room!
A big thank you to all the families who purchased from the Art to Remember fundraiser. The artwork was amazing! Each purchase helps buy materials such s clay, weaving looms, books and reproductions to further enhance the district's art curriculum. Each child in grades K-5 will be working with clay next week thanks to the funds contributed.
Clay week is next week! Students in grades k-5 will build their clay item in one class period. It will take 1-2 weeks to air dry, then it will be bisque fired. Students in grades 1-5 will be painting their work at some point during April. I will finish them off with a glitter glaze that air dries over night. Clay work will be able to go home the day after it's been painted!! Kindergartners will be making pocket fossils.First grade will be making patterned pinch pots. Second grade will create clay sun discs. Third grade will make clay owls. Fourth grade makes whistling blow fish. Fifth graders make dragons!
I have been saving artwork throughout second and third trimester. Each student in grades 1-5 will be compiling an art portfolio with their artwork. These portfolios will come home near the end of the school year. Be on the look out for their AMAZING artistic learning examples to come home in mid-May.
The art room is collecting frosting cups. If your family buys pre-made frosting, please wash and save the container and lid it came in. I use these cups for so many organizational things, especially for passing out materials to students.
Thank you for your continued support fo the art program at Prairie Point!

Gym Shoe Reminder
We realize it is a little tricky this year to remember what days P.E. are because of the A,B,C,D,E schedule. Therefore, it is recommended that a pair of gym shoes are left at school so your child is always prepared. Please be sure the shoes have laces or Velcro.
Thank you,
