Hertzog Headlines
recent happenings in 4th grade - February 16 - February 19
The weeks seem to be going faster and faster! We couldn't have asked for a better week of weather! Thanks goodness for outdoor recess! With that in mind, as the weather gets warmer please continue to remind your student to AT LEAST wear a jacket. We have our first recess in the morning and with the wind it can be quite chilly!
Academics
We continued working on theme and our informational pieces in ELA. I, am hoping to get all of the informational pieces this afternoon, but if not please see that your student finishes it this weekend. In math we continued fractions. Your student should be able to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with the SAME DENOMINATORS! We will also begin learning how to multiply a fraction by a whole number. In Social Studies we continued our government unit and learned about the Declaration of Independence.
Day of Service
Day of service is a week from today!!! Andrew Hawkins came and talked to 4th grade this morning and got us all so excited! We will be doing crafts and talking with "grandparents" that live at Truman Medical Center. Please remember to send a sack lunch with your student on Friday!
Multiplication
Be sure to continue working on multiplication facts! We will be doing another big timed test next week. We have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year and are just over halfway to our 4th grade goal of 80 facts in 4 minutes.
