Special Recognition
A. Missouri State Highway Patrol District Bus Inspection-Total Fleet Excellence (97.1% Approval). Thank you Meramec Valley R-III Transportation Department, Mr. Scott Roper, Transportation Director; Mr. Scott McCaw, Lead Mechanic; Mr. John Bardol, Assistant Mechanic and Transportation Staff.
B. Pacific High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC)- National Marksmanship Finals. Cadet Captain Amanda Benetin advanced to both the Marine Corps National Marksmanship Finals in Phoenix, AZ and subsequently qualified for the All-Service National Marksmanship Championship in Anniston, AL. Amanda currently ranks 8th in the Marine Corps and 25th in the nation from a pool of nearly 8,000 competitors.
Further, Amanda was awarded the prestigious “Distinguished Shooting Badge” by the Director of the Civilian Marksmanship Program at Talladega Super Speedway in March 2019. This award has been presented to less than 1,800 shooters since the award's inception in 2001.
Memorandums of Understanding Partnerships with MVR-III School District
The Meramec Valley R-III School District had the opportunity to extend partnerships with the following organizations.
CHADS (Communities Healing Adolescent Depression and Suicide) has requested support for a Memorandum of Understanding so that it can provide services to MVR-III students, parents, and staff. Services include prevention training, family support, and counseling services regarding depression, suicide, and bullying.
EYE THRIVE- Formerly Eye Care Charity
This organization provides vision exams, glasses prescriptions and fittings, and referrals for additional care to students in our district. These services are free of charge.
The Children's Advocacy Center of East Central Missouri
This organization provides sexual abuse/sexual harassment prevention programs to students and families in our district. These services are free of charge and help in identifying at-risk students and in linking families to appropriate services and support. A copy of the MOU is included in board packets.
Preferred Family Healthcare, Inc.
This organization provides substance abuse prevention and education to students and families in our district. These services are free of charge and help in identifying at-risk students and in linking families to appropriate services and support.

Curriculum & Assessment News
During the 2018-19 school year, all core area curriculum documents were updated and new resources were adopted for Elementary Social Studies and High School Math. Moving forward the MVR-III curriculum schedule is designed to stagger the revision, text adoption, and implementation of curriculum over the next 8 years. This year, staff will be writing and revising the Odyssey and Fine Arts curriculum. The Board of Education approved the District Curriculum Committee's curriculum revisions for K-5 ELA.
Assessment
Department of Secondary and Elementary Education has released updated Math and ELA achievement data to schools. We have shared preliminary reports with principals to guide planning and goal setting discussions with staff. DESE outlined plans for releasing secured APR data by September 24th, with a public release in early October.
School District Finances
District revenue and expenditures are on track with projectection for the year.
The Board of Education unanimously approved the new tax rate for the Meramec Valley R-III School District. The $4.4004 rate is lower than the previous year due to an increase in assessed valuation.
Construction/Maintenance/Safety Report
Mr. Jeff Pipes, Director of Maintenance updated the board on construction, maintenance, safety, and security projects being completed in the district during the month of July and August.
