Dear West Central Families,

Welcome to West Central! You have selected a school where the faculty and staff are committed to creating many new and exciting ways to enhance the academic and cultural experiences of our students. We look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.

We are glad you have become a part of the West Central Elementary family! By working together, we can work toward achieving the mission of Rome City Schools: All students will graduate from Rome High School prepared for college or work.

All of the teachers and staff at West Central Elementary look forward to helping your child achieve his or her best this school year. Here’s to an AWESOME new school year as we work together to make our school a great place to work and learn each day!

Sincerely,

Dr. Daphne Johnson

Principal

We've had a great first few days of school! Just look at those smiles!

Important Reminders

  • Students are considered tardy at 7:45am. Students must be in their classrooms by that time. Please arrive early if your child is a car rider, especially if he/she wishes to eat breakfast.
  • Daily dismissal begins at 2:30pm.
  • If you need to check your child out for afternoon appointments, you must do so by 2:00pm.
  • All visitors must sign-in in the school office.
  • At this time, for safety reasons, we cannot allow parents to bring food or cupcakes for their students. Thank you for your understanding!

MAP Testing

MAP testing will begin for all students this week! MAP is a computerized assessment that adapts to each student's learning level to find test questions for them that are "just right." Students receive a RIT score and a percentile rank to help our teachers measure student progress and growth. All students will complete the MAP assessment again in January and May. If you have questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Snack shack is every Friday!

At West Central Elementary, we do things the RCS Way! We are Ready to Learn, Courteous, and Safe!

To be successful, our behavior program needs to be a partnership between home and school.

Please support PBIS at West Central by:

  • Reviewing behavior expectations with your child. Ask your child every day about his/her day at school.
  • Making sure your child is ready for school each day. Ensure a good night’s sleep.
  • Keeping in touch with your child’s teacher.
  • Providing positive reinforcements for good behavior at home.
  • Sharing comments with or asking questions of West Central PBIS team members.
