Mindfulness in Education

Cultivating Awareness, Regulation, Presence & Compassion

Ready for an overview & practical approaches?

Research and interest in the benefits of mindfulness in the educational

setting continue to grow. According to Mindful Schools, "Healthy stress is a natural part of life, including childhood. Children and adults alike need to be challenged in order to grow and develop. However, in the modern education system, healthy stress is frequently displaced by toxic stress. Toxic stress occurs when life’s demands consistently outpace our ability to cope with those demands." To counter the impact of toxic stress, we must develop and practice skills that begin to shift our habitual response to stress for both ourselves and our students outside of stressful circumstances.

This module introduces educators to the history and research behind Mindfulness applications for personal and professional renewal as well as practical applications for the classroom.
