SV Week 38 Update

One Week to Go

We had an amazing final full week of school that continues tonight with our 8th grade promotion dance! Congratulations to Mrs. Simmons, Mr. Lynch, and our amazing choir and band students who put on fabulous performances Wednesday and Thursday this week! We would also like to thank all of you who came out to pack the MPR with huge crowds to support our fine arts programs this week.

Our final PTSO meeting of the year will be on Monday May 16 at 6:30 pm in our Media Center. We are currently looking for at least one new board member to serve as secretary, and are hoping to bring some new families on board to help out as volunteers for PTSO. We would really appreciate your attendance at our final meeting next week as we close out this year and elect new board members for 22-23. If you have any questions about the meeting, and would like more information about volunteering, please email .

Tonight we wish our Choir students good luck and a good time at the Arizona Diamondbacks Game as they will be performing on the field along with many other choir students across the state. We also want to remind our 8th grade parents of the 8th grade dance from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and that you please arrive promptly at 8:00 to pick up your 8th grader. Finally, we have Papa John's Pizza night tonight thanks to our amazing PTSO for organizing this last restaurant night of the year.

PBIS Rewards

WOW!! As of today, teachers have awarded 127,064 PBIS points to students this school year!! Points are awarded daily to students who are seen being kind, being respectful, being safe, being responsible and demonstrating GRIT and a growth mindset.. You and your students should be so proud of all of the amazing and positive character traits observed on the Sierra Verde campus. Students have earned thousands of prizes and entered the multiple monthly Squishmallow drawings and Teacher Raffle Basket drawings to date.

Next Wednesday we will hold our final drawings of the school year, so any students who need to spend their points, this is a great way to use them. The PBIS store will close at noon on Monday, May 16th. This allows us time to redeem the last of the prizes and get them delivered out to students. Thank you to our parent volunteers to who worked from home and from campus to ensure students received their prizes each week. The store will be in need of volunteers for the 22-23 school year, so please reach out to the front office if you are willing to help out.

It has been two years since we have been able to have a "normal" start and we would welcome your help on our campus and with our events. A Note from Mrs. Hoffpauir

Dear Current Sixth and Seventh Grade Parents:

As the school year ends, many of our middle school students are eager to see their schedules for the upcoming school year. At Sierra Verde, our goal is to help develop a well-rounded child. One way we do this is by providing middle school students with opportunities to explore and experience a variety of exploratory courses beyond the core curriculum to broaden their perspective. These courses allow students to develop 21st century skills such as cultural awareness, social and personal responsibility, technology skills, communication skills, and real-world connections.

Students may request schedule changes during the first seven days of the 2022-2023 school year. These requests will be reviewed by administration and considered based on numbers and availability. Please hold all schedule change requests until that time. Because we are still enrolling new students and numbers are fluctuating, we will not accept any requests at this time.

While we are ready for summer, we also look forward to the new school year with excitement! Please know that we act with your child’s best interests in mind. Thank you for your continued support.

Have a wonderful summer!

End of Year Medication Pick Up

Dear Parents/ Guardians;

It is hard to believe that the end of the year is almost here. I want to remind all of those families that have medication in the nurse’s office that it must be picked up by an adult no later than Thursday May 19th. I do not keep any medication over the Summer. Any medication not picked up will be destroyed after the pickup date.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful summer!

Nurse Lynn

Updates from our Office

We are currently building our Master Schedule for 22-23 in PowerSchool, for some of our grades, you may be able to see class placements and teachers for next year and these are all currently in a working "Draft mode" as we always have to make some changes and adjustments through the summer to balance our classes. As a reminder, we do not change classrooms or make schedule changes per policy by parent request. A lot of time, effort, and thought goes into homeroom and rotation placements each year and it would be impossible to honor classroom requests based on the many variables we take into account already.

Have a Great Weekend
