Have you talked with your child(ren) about respect?
Please talk with your child(ren) about the importance of practicing good citizenship by respecting the property of others. Staying on the sidewalk and off of yards, flower beds and other areas that belong to area residents is an important part of being a good neighbor and responsible citizen.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to have this important conversation.
When are transportation forms due?
We'd like them returned to school ASAP, but no later than the last day of school, Wednesday June 5.
Returning this form before the end of the year will guarantee your child busing for the 1st day of school from the address on the form.
Late registrations, after August 1, will likely not have bus transportation in a timely manner, parents will be required to transport their student until the form is processed and the bus pass received.
Thank you for your timely completion of this required form.

How much sleep should children get each night?
Why should I talk to my student about School Board Policy 501, section III, sub A3?
School Board Policy 501 describes how schools keep a safe environment free of weapons. Outlined in the policy are the obvious things that outside of school students are not allowed to use or only with adult supervision, but it also covers items that fit into the category of toys.
There is the potential for a problem if a student places a toy gun or rubber knife in the pocket of their coat and then brings it to school. It can be a confusing situation for students as something they have permission to use outside of school is forbidden at school.
Please take a few minutes to talk with your child about the importance of never bringing any of the items outlined in the policy to school.
To read the full policy, use this link.
Will you be attending the Educare benefit?

What's happening for Wellness Week?
Have you seen the 2019-20 School Calendar?
Do you have a child who loves to read?
The Reading Committee is organizing a final Read Out event on Tuesday, May 14 from 6-7 p.m. and PTO is bringing a Scholastic BOGO Book Fair to Franklin for that one day only. The BOGO Book Fair is a great way to get more books for summer reading. For each book or item purchased, you get a second item for free. The Scholastic BOGO Book Fair will be open from 3-8 p.m. on May 14, so you can stop in after school or before or after the Read Out event.
We could still use a couple more volunteers to help with the Book Fair. You can sign up to volunteer at: https://signup.com/go/KaehpQw
Wasn't the Ice Cream Social fun?
Thank you to all the families and staff who enjoyed the popsicles, fun, and sun at Franklin's Family Ice Cream Social. We had over 250 attend and it was wonderful to see so many kids and parents playing and laughing together.
PTO plans to host another one in the fall, as it was that much fun.
Thanks to all the parents and staff who helped prep, work, and clean up the event.
What does PTO have in the works for next year?
PTO leadership is working with staff and parent volunteers to finalize the events calendar for next year. We'll share it as soon as we have dates finalized and spaces reserved.
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey gauging interest in yearbooks. PTO will coordinate a yearbook next year. More specifics will be shared in the fall.
A $21,700 PTO budget for 2019-20 was tentatively approved at this week's PTO meeting. It will be finalized at the October PTO meeting after Walk-A-Thon. If PTO meets our Walk-A-Thon fundraising goal of $11,000, PTO will cover the entire cost of the rollerskating curriculum, make sure every grade gets a field trip (even if the District doesn't currently pay for one), and send all third graders to the Young Writers and Artists Conference, send all fifth graders to the Science and Nature Conference, and much more.
