Weekly Wrap-Up
1-11-16 to 1-15-16
ELA Summary
This week in ELA we worked on continuing our books, Hurricanes and Shipwreck. We also worked with main ideas and details. We will be writing summaries for the books we worked on, Fantasy Becomes Fact and Shipwreck. Then we will work on editing and revising this piece with our teacher and peers.
A Special Visitor
This week we had Mrs.DeHart come in to watch us work. She thinks that, "You remind me of me working when I was in elementary school."
Looking Ahead to Next Week
Next week we will be off on Monday and Tuesday because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Since we have off on those days, we will have the vocabulary test on Wednesday for list 13. There is no Wordly Wise for next week. In two weeks the whole fifth grade will be participating in ballroom dancing with Mrs.Williamson. On January 29, all parents are invited to watch from 2:15-3:05.
Don't Forget!
If your child is participating in the STEM Fair, the packets were due on Friday (1-15-16). This has been extended to Wednesday, January 20. The information session for parents is on Wednesday, January 20 at 6:15 PM. Also, for the winter book swap, bring in your books to swap on January 20-22. Furry Friends pet supplies collection items are due now through January 24.
Infographic Information
Our culminating event for Unit 2 in ELA will be designing infographics.
Student-led discussion of infographics
We discussed our searches in Computer Lab for characteristics of infoghraphics. We shared our findings back in our classroom.
Weekly Wrap-up Team
While they did not want their picture posted, I could not resist. Anthony, Hailey, Jackson, and Julia did an outstanding job summarizing our week. Thank you, team!
