Pop-Up PD - Upcoming Events - Information Item
Our talented HolmesHawks have developed some exciting and relevant Pop-Up PD sessions.
Here is our list of upcoming events:
1/16 - Circles Vs Morning Meetings
1/23 - Cancelled - teachers will travel to district-wide grade level team meetings
2/6 - Teach Like a Champion Book Study
2/13 - Content Circles
2/20 - Curricular focus - more information to follow - session led by a Holmes team member

ROE Visits Are Coming: Action Item
- No doorstops! Lock these up and put them away. Any door stops seen will be taken.
- No extension cords or extension strips. We can ONLY use surge protectors. If you have these, put them away.
- No chemicals, aerosols or unlabeled spray bottles of any kinds can be in classrooms.
- There must be a clearance of 24 inches between items stacked and the ceiling. If you have things stacked along the perimeter of your classroom or on cases you will need to find a new home for those items
- No coffee makers, heating plates, microwaves or refrigerators in classrooms.
- No plugin room deodorizers - take these out Tuesday so the smell of them are gone before the inspection
- Nothing can be taped to outside windows
- Door glass must be clear for easy sight into all classrooms
- Nothing on top of uni vents
- All classrooms must have emergency procedures and evacuation routes by your door. If you do not, please see Margaret to get a new copy.
- No Hanging plants
- Nothing hanging from the ceiling by a string
- No curtains

Spelling Bee: Information Item
Thank you for your feedback. Holmes staff voted 70% No Spelling Bee. I shared this information with PTO and they understand this practice no longer aligns to our curriculum and they are respecting not adding another thing to your already full plates.
Holmes PTO is discussing doing some sort of game show format that has a student -vs-parent element for next year.
Problem Solving Meetings: Action Item
We meet every other Friday. Our next meeting is this Friday 1/25.
Ed Hartman will be our sub for these meetings and he will cover your class while we meet and problem solve.

If our response rate is greater than 20%, we will receive our reports in March 2019. The results will also be made available to the public via the Illinois School Report Cards, which will be released in the fall.
