ALPFG Scorecard’

ILC Africa civil society monitoring tool through baseline indicators which are adaptable to local context that put emphasis on sharing lessons learned from national land policy implementation, in particular on areas relating to pro-poor policies, economic benefits and the land rights of the vulnerable especially women and children.

Who can use SCORECARD

- Governments who made a commitment to ALPFG Declaration;

- ILC Members;

- LPI Secretariat;

- Donors

KEY LESSONS

- The key lesson is the effective engagement/dialogue between civil and Government, and why and how the evidence based data can influence better government than just engaging with assumptions.

- Commitment on policies made by Governments are in most cases a basis for framework, but their implementation rely on the responsibility of the civil society

- The Scorecard is not designed as a kind of “external evaluation” ranking countries. Rather it is understood as a tool for promoting and facilitating dialogue between Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and governments The LPI explicitly calls for monitoring and tracking of key indicators for progress and encourages broad participation.
