School Fees are Due

If you haven't turned in your student(s) school registration fees yet this year, please turn them in as soon as you are able. The $44 ($22 for K4) fee KUSD charges to elementary students is the "best deal in town" considering its good for 180 days of an amazing education experiences. Payments can be made HERE or if you have any questions, concerns, or would prefer to pay in installments, please call the office at 262-359-6362

Thank you families for a great book fair

We saw an amazing level of support for student literacy and our school library at this year's Scholastic Book Fair. A little under half of our families made purchases at this year's Book Fair and those sales resulted in $1000 in profits which will provide more resources for our school library. On behalf of Mrs. Schilz and the entire Grewenow Elementary staff, we wish to say THANK YOU!

Academic Learning Updates

American Education Week

November 13-17 is American Education Week. Families all should have received a few different pieces of communication about that week. The first was the spirit wear/dress up days for students which are as follows:

Marvelous Monday- Get fancy and wear your most marvelous outfit

Tuck Me In Tuesday- Wear your pajamas to school

Wild & Wacky Wednesday- Wear your wildest outfit, animal print or wacky

Thinking Cap Thursday- Wear your best thinking cap (Hat Day)

Flame Throwing Friday- Wear your Grewenow gear for Grewenow Dragons Day

Bon Appetit with a Book tasting

On Thursday, November 16, 2017, there is a Book Tasting event! Food will be served at 5:30 and then families will be able to read together "taste" a variety of books from different genres. This event is sure to satisfy your appetite (stomach and mind)!

What would you write about?

As the first quarter comes to a close, so does our first writing unit for the year. The beginning of the year focus was "personal narrative" so students reflected on people, things, and events that were meaningful to them and described an experience centered around those ideas. The end of the quarter goal for almost every grade level was to complete and share a work of writing worthy to be "published" (a.k.a. a final draft).

Practical Math

This quarter, and throughout the rest of the year, students will be engaging in activities that bring math to life and make it practical. If you ask most people about math, they say they don't like it or that they aren't good at it, but the fact is we use it all the time and don't give ourselves enough credit. Check out the pictures below to see some of the active ways our students have been sharpening their numeracy skills

Parent Teacher Conferences a Success

Thank you to all the families who attended fall parent teacher conferences. Over 90% of our students' families attended in person and I know that many teachers made arrangements outside of the conference times. Thank you for supporting your child(ren)'s education.

Kids WIN when school and families are working together!
