Invention Convention
It’s that time again! This year, the Invention Convention will occur on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Glendale High School Cafeteria. The ceremony will be on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
The prompt for this year’s competition is:
Imagine a world where everyday problems are transformed into opportunities for innovation. Your challenge is to identify a problem that you encounter in your daily life, school, community, or the broader world, and invent a creative solution that addresses it. Your invention should be practical, user-friendly, original, and genuinely useful.
Invention Convention is open to all Wilson students.
Mr. Peterson is our Invention Convention advisor. Interested students can go and see Mr. Peterson in Room 2109.

Mindfulness Moment
Last week we learned how to play a memory game. This week we will learn how to breathe to calm ourselves down. If you feel stressed or worried, pay attention to how you are breathing. You may notice that you are taking short breaths or that you are holding your breath. Close your eyes and take 5 deep breaths. Breath in while slowly counting to 5, hold your breath for 3 seconds, then exhale slowly while counting backwards from 5-1. This will allow your body to relax and for you to think more clearly.
Chromebook Tip of the Week!
Please don’t eat or drink around the Chromebook. Crumbs can get under the keys and prevent them from working. Sticky substances can work themselves under the keys and make them sticky and unreliable. Spilled liquids on or around the Chromebook can short out the motherboard and break the device completely.
Visit the Wilson Student Help Corner Website where you can find video tutorials answering your frequently asked questions about apps used in your classrooms. We also have tutorials in Armenian and Spanish.

Digital Citizenship Tip of the Week!
-The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends all screens be turned off at least 30 minutes before bedtime
-It is also recommended that phones be put away, out of arm's reach during sleep time.
-Screen time right before bed and heavy screen time throughout the day can lead to problems with sleep.
