Summer Reminders
Summer’s Here! Security Tips for Families and Students – Please remember that security for our children is the foundation for fun this summer, and will help ensure that 100% of them can return for a great new school year this fall! Following these tips over vacation can save injuries and give families peace of mind:
- Stay safe when alone at home. Keep doors locked and do not allow strangers or any unexpected person to enter your home and property.
- Know how to use security systems. If your home has an installed security system, teach your child how to activate and de-activate them, if age appropriate.
- Update important emergency telephone numbers. Make sure your child knows how and when to call for help in an emergency; beyond 911, let them know other important numbers (like yours!) See this blog for more suggestions.
- Seek safe places. If your teen or older child wants to hang out with friends, make sure they let you know about it.
- Drink water! Always keep a water or drink with you to stay hydrated and keep cool in the hot weather.
- Prevent injuries. Over 200,000 children (aged 14 and younger) suffer slips, trips and falls every year in the United States, many over the summer. Always watch your steps and be careful when riding a bike.
