Garden Hoe Down
Our Garden "Hoe Down" will be Saturday, November 16, 9-11:00 a.m. Everyone welcome, but we are especially inviting families that helped us care for the garden this summer/fall. We'll be cleaning up, making herb bouquets for our special guests and enjoying some well earned refreshments.
We're calling this work party a "Hoe Down" as we will be putting the "hoe" down to the ground when we clean up the garden. It is a celebration for sure! But this "Hoe Down" is not to be confused with a dance, although you're free to do that as well!!!
Special invitations are being sent to families that helped care for our garden over the summer/fall. But everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
This will most likely be our last work party of the calendar year. Please make this family-friendly event a success!
Parking Lot Safety Reminder
Please drop off and pick up your students right next to the curb in our front parking lot during arrival and dismissal. We ask that all parents observe our drop-off and pick-up signs to keep all children and adults safe during these busy times of the day. Please form one line of cars that runs next to the curb. Forming two lines, or parking next to the curb, causes undue delays and can force students and adults to walk between cars. Please do not ask your child to meet you in our back parking lot. Our supervision is in the front of the school during dismissal time. We want everyone to arrive at school and return home safely. Please observe our one car line procedure during arrival and dismissal.
Also, please remember that we have students and staff who ride bikes or scooters to school. Please do not pull into the bike lane to turn as that puts these folks at risk. Thank you for your help keeping everyone safe each day.

Emergency Drills
We practice safety drills every month in all of our schools within the Tigard-Tualatin School District. Safety is our most important job every day we are with your children. There are a few important things to know about our emergency drills. Once a month we practice fire drills. We also practice lockout and lockdown drills. These opportunities help us ensure that every child and adult in our school is accounted for and safe in case of emergency. Here are a few basics to help you understand three important practice drills that we run here at school:
Fire Drills: Once a month. All staff and students evacuate the school to designated areas around the outside of our school property.
Lockout & Lockdown Drills: Two times a year. One fall drill and one winter drill.
Lockout Drills include:
· Lockout announcement to entire school
· Any students and staff outside the school are brought inside
· Attendance is reviewed
· All outside doors are locked, no one is allowed in or out during lockout drills
· All blinds and window coverings are closed
· School activity inside the school runs on regular schedule
Lockdown Drills include:
· Lockdown announcement to entire school
· All staff and students are cleared from common and hallway spaces
· All outside and inside doors locked
· All outside and inside windows covered and closed
· All staff direct students and visitors to locations that are out of sight
· Attendance is reviewed and silence is expected
· All clear signal is announced when completed
Please contact your child’s teacher or our office for any questions for how we practice safety at school. Dates for practice drills are not posted as they are all subject to change.
