Rock Hill Review
May 24, 2020 - Last Edition of 2019-2020 School Year!
Opening Up
In case there is anyone out there who may have missed it, I just had to keep this video in the newsletter since it will be the last edition for 2019-2020 school year! I can honestly say that I'm not the least bit sad about this being our last edition of the 2019-2020 Rock Hill Review and it's not because I think we are all ready to put this year behind us... It's because of the INCREDIBLE anticipation for the start of next school year that we have to look forward to! It doesn't matter how we will open or what the circumstances surrounding the pandemic are at that time, because the opening of our campus will be AMAZING regardless of those things! Our kids, parents, community and staff are all FIRED up about what's about to happen on "The Hill!"
Each week in these newsletters, I've tried to pick a background that symbolizes something about that week or what may lay ahead. After Spring Break you'll notice there were a lot of computer backgrounds being used to represent eLearning. For this week, I chose a background with sparks. Anyone that knows me can figure out pretty easily that I am a huge sports fan and will literally watch anything that's on. However, what I'm even more a fan of, are the amazing athletes and the stories behind their careers. So, obviously, I have been glued to our TV the last few weeks watching "The Last Dance." In the very last episode, Michael Jordan was reflecting back on his whole time in Chicago and how they went from being terrible to one of the great basketball dynasties in history. He made the comment that all it took was one small match to ignite them on that path. That really encapsulates how I feel about Rock Hill and the future of Prosper ISD. Our District is on the verge of an incredible journey and RHHS is that one small match that will hopefully provide the flame for us to blaze a trail into a new era of having multiple high schools. This has been an amazing, fun and- at times- difficult experience so far, but I cannot wait for our next chapter. Moreover, I have no doubt we are bringing a box full of matches to "The Hill" with students, staff and parents who are ready to set the world on fire and leave their mark in PISD history!
Thank you for all your support along the way and as always, if you need anything please do not hesitate to reach out. Have a great week, an amazing Summer and stay well!
See you in 2020-2021!

Introducing the Latest Additions to the Blue Hawk Family
Monique Jantz - Counselor Substitute for Mrs. Katie Wells
Here is a little more info about Mrs. Jantz:
Hey there RHHS! I'm so excited to be a part of the Blue Hawk family! This will be my first year in Prosper and my 17th year in education. I started out as an elementary school teacher and taught first grade, second grade, and fourth grade. I spent the last 12 years as a middle school counselor and can't wait to see what fun and exciting challenges high school brings.
I received my Bachelor's degree from UC, Riverside, and my Master's degree from Azusa Pacific University. I grew up in Southern California and recently relocated to Texas with my husband, Greg, our three active children, Hollyn, Macie, and Erich, and our dog, Luna. We've lived here almost a year now and couldn't be happier.
I can't express how excited I am to be starting off this first year with you!

Sherry Grissom - Culinary Arts Teacher (New to PISD)
I grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. For the past 22 years, I have worked at both the high school and middle school levels teaching a variety of Family and Consumer Sciences courses. I feel so fortunate to share my passion for culinary arts with the students of Rock Hill and I'm excited to be a part of the culinary team as we build this program together!
My husband, Brad, and I have lived in The Colony for 18 years and we have two children, Macy and Grayson. My family enjoys spending time with our dogs, being outdoors, traveling, and enjoying unique culinary experiences! I love cooking, gardening, reading, and exploring Pinterest.
I believe that the opportunities the students have available to them at RHHS are absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to see what is in store for their future! Go Blue Hawks!
Jonathon Cummings - Science Teacher (New to PISD)
Allison Alexander - Law Enforcement Teacher (RHHS & PHS)
I began my teaching career at Sherman High School teaching Principles of Law and Law Enforcement 1. Before and during my teaching career, I was also employed in law enforcement for 11 years, and currently hold my advanced peace officer, field training officer, mental health peace officer, school based law enforcement officer, and basic instructor licenses. I served as a police officer in patrol, criminal investigations, internal affairs, evidence and courtesy officer supervisor, and public information officer. I love bringing the stories from my time as a police officer to the classroom, and inviting friends I've made during my career to speak to my kids. I find this is an excellent way to enhance their knowledge of law enforcement.
I truly enjoy teaching students about the criminal justice system. I love challenging them to think deeply then seeing their minds turn with questions and learn to look at things differently. It is a joy to watch them grow passionate about a subject I love. My goal is to form positive relationships with my students, while helping students see law enforcement in a more positive light. I want my kids to become critical thinkers and problem solvers so when they go out in the real world they are better prepared for their day-to-day life.
During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working out, traveling, listening to audible books, and anything involving the University of Oklahoma where I am currently enrolled as a graduate student.
