The first week back is in the books! Thank you for your help and support as we transitioned back to in person learning. It was wonderful to see students and staff in the building!
Thank you, also, to the parents/families who attended the Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, January 13 in reference to the calendar options for the 2021-22 school year. We hope to have a decision made regarding next year’s calendar shortly and will communicate that to parents/families. Also, we appreciate your understanding that things are subject to change based on the ever-evolving situation as has been the norm for the past 10 months!

BECS 21-22 Calendar Options
Thank you to all of the K - 7th-grade families who completed our second round of calendar surveys this week and/or attended our town hall meeting on Wednesday, January 13. Currently, we have received 690 responses and hope to meet or exceed 810 in total. If you have not completed the survey, please do so by Monday, January 18. To aid in your decision making, please see the summary of each option and Q&A document from the Town Hall meeting on 1/13. When completing the survey, we ask you to focus on the student contact days you would most prefer should we return without cohort restrictions for the 21-22 school year.
Changes to Reporting a Student Absence - Beginning Tuesday, January 19th
Every morning families will receive a text reminder on reporting a sick student. If your student(s) will be home sick or has been exposed to Covid 19, please open the following link and complete the sick student screener.
Please fill out the screening form online and submit it electronically. Please be sure to press submit at the end of the screener. This will streamline COVID screening processes.
If you fill out the sick student form, you do not have to call the school's attendance line to report your student’s absence.
If your student is missing school for anything other than an illness, please call the attendance line to report the absence.
If your student's symptoms have lasted over 24 hours, the nurse or site coordinator for your school will reach out to you by phone for the next steps.
Dress Code Reminders
Top colors are solid hunter green, navy blue, or white, WITH a school patch permanently attached in the upper corner.
Bottoms are navy blue or khaki.
Students can wear hoodies and jackets inside the building as long as they follow the requirements stated above.
No hats of any kind are allowed inside the building.
Starting on Tuesday, January 19, students in grades K - 8 will follow the inside morning routine for a soft start.
Students should maintain their normal drop off times and locations. Students should not arrive on campus before 8:00 AM. (See Arrival/Dismissal section below)
Upon arrival, students will enter through their grade level doors and report to their classroom, where their temperature will be taken.
The school day will continue to start at 8:30 AM.

2021 Covid Reminders - Adams County is Level Orange Status
Families will continue to receive a daily text reminder to home screen their student(s).
Homescreen student(s) each day.
Please wear a protective mask while on campus at all times.
Please have only one family member outside on campus during drop off and pick up.
No parents or visitors will be allowed in the building at this time.
Please report all student illnesses to the BECS covid-19 site coordinator, Nate Jacobson. Mr. Jacobson or the school nurse will contact you to determine when your student can return to school.
Please continue using the assigned areas to drop off your student.
The days are chilly, so please make sure your student wears appropriate layers, shoes, coats, hats/scarfs/gloves, etc. Students will be outside for recess unless the temperature falls below 25 degrees.
Only 1 family member allowed on campus to drop off/pick up.
If students are late, they are supposed to use their assigned grade level entrance door until 8:40 am. After that time, drop the student off at the front entrance.
Students should leave the campus promptly after the school day has ended.
Students should have 2 face masks with them daily.

Intent to Return 20/21 School Year & New Student Enrollment
We ask that every current BECS family complete our Intent to Return form declaring your family’s intentions for the coming year. Please fill out one form for each of your students. *8th grade families please disregard this. The deadline for the completed Intent to Return process is Friday, February 26th, 2021.
Please note: The Intent to Return Process is only for existing students/families. If you seek new enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year, please see the details below.
New Student Enrollment
The enrollment window for the 2021/22 school year is now open! Returning Bromley East Charter School students are automatically enrolled at BECS for the following year. They are not required to participate in the lottery process. Please contact our registrar Ms. Elizabeth Sumerix, with any questions. Additional information can also be found on the BECS website.
Effective 12/1/2020, BECS will no longer accept any form of payment for yearbooks. All yearbook orders must be placed with Jostens directly. Thank you!
