Website Update
You may post your newsletter on the website...that is optional, but please do have it out to your parents by Monday.
Also, please continue to explore the use of Edmodo with your classes and parents. I think it offers some good options.
I will keep you updated on what the next steps with the websites are when I know. Thanks for your graciousness and flexibility!
Updates and FYI's
Please be sure to park in the far parking lot by the first - fourth playground on Thursday and Friday to free up parking spots closer to the building for our Grandparents. Thank you!!!
BOY Checklist, Welcome Call Parent Logs, and Faculty Handbook Sign Off - all due to Dana ASAP. Thanks!
ANOTHER DATE CHANGE - When our reading consultant (Claudia) needed to change her date for third and fourth grade there was a domino effect. So, our new District Literacy Coach - Kelly Leach -will now be coming on Oct. 22nd. The date has been updated, again, on the collaboration site.
We are finalizing the universal screeners and gathering a lot of information on our students. This data will provide information on where to start with your students and how to group them and meet their learning needs. Be sure you are using and reading your Jan Richardson book and website as you work on updating your Guided Reading process and practices. Our new Literacy Coach and the Claudia will also be referencing that book as she works with you on next steps for implementation and support.
From Leah Beard: According to EHBK (Legal):
The last Friday in September is in recognition of the historic, cultural, and social contributions American Indian communities and leaders have made to Texas. American Indian Heritage Day shall be regularly observed by appropriate ceremonies, acitivities, and programs in public schools to honor American Indians in Texas and to celebrate the rich traditional and contemporary American Indian culture. Gov't Code 662.056
This year the date will be Friday, September 26th.
You've Got Heart and Thank you's

Kendal & Lynda for covering morning duty for Casey & Lisa at the last minute when they needed to have a meeting with a parent.
Thank you to all of you who have provided a loving and supportive learning environment for each of your students. You mean the world to them and everything that you do and say on a minute by minute basis makes an impact on them. Thank you for treating our students with dignity and compassion!
A friend of mine who teaches in another district now, has four children under the age of 11, and leads a very, very busy life posted a short story on Facebook this weekend. See below...it is inspiring and great reminder!!
Working Agendas for Faculty Meeting and CEIC Update:
- Celebrations
- VESTED Showcase by Specials (one of our goals for transforming our learning environments is to continue the conversation, learning and implementation of high yield educational strategies. VESTED strategies offer great ideas on how to formatively assess students throughout the lesson, increase conversation, integrate technology, and engage students at a higher level. I am looking forward to what everyone has to share and what we can learn!
- Writing Work (Updates, data analysis review, goal setting, and creation of a plan for writing success for all students)
- Please bring: Your student's blue writing/literacy folders and laptops.
CEIC:
Please be sure to get an update from the CEIC meeting from your Committee Rep. One of the items we discussed was information related to our Campus Improvement Plan. At our principal meeting this past Wednesday, I received information on the campus and learning goals. I have added those goals to our Big Three. I also edited our Transformation goal to be more concise, based on feedback collected from you and from my supervisor. Click here if you would like to see a list of all our goals for this school year. I have also included the link to the CEIC minutes here, if you are interested.
