Updates to the calendar and end of the year activities
There are numerous activities happening at the end of the year and I would like to share some information with everyone in regards to them. There certainly seems to be an increased amount of energy in the building and with all of the end of the year celebrations on the horizon we are very excited for our graduating students and the other culminating activities that the close of another school year provides. Although we must still adhere to the safety measures we have in place it does feel like there is a return to pre-pandemic conditions in sight. I look forward to the last few months of my time at North Crawford and sending our graduates into the next phase of their lives.
Below I will briefly explain the different events that we have going on for the rest of the school year. If you have any questions please reach out to the middle/high school office.
Sincerely,
Toby Tripalin
MS/HS Principal
END OF THE YEAR CEREMONIES AND ACTIVITIES
High School Prom will be on Saturday, May 8th at 8:00 p.m. and will be outside underneath the stars and/or underneath giant tents. Any guests must be in high school and have a guest form filled out and signed before they will be allowed to attend.
Scholarship Ceremony Wednesday, May 26th
Our scholarship ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the large gym. Every senior is allowed to bring 4 guests to the event and each student's party will be seated together in the gymnasium. Everyone is required to wear masks and stay physically distanced when possible. We look forward to handing out numerous scholarships to our graduates to give them a good start on their future plans.
High School Graduation Saturday, May 29th @ 10:00
The plan for high school graduation will be an outdoor ceremony with each graduating senior being allowed to bring 8 guests to graduation. Each member of the student's party will be seated in the same area. The graduates will be seated with their families and will come to the stage for their honors plaques and/or diplomas. One member of the graduate's party will walk on stage with the graduate and will be the one that turns the graduate's tassel, officially signifying that they have graduated. It would be appreciated if the friend or family member would then walk off the stage so pictures can be taken of just the graduate. Please wear a mask into and on your way out of the ceremony. Masks may be removed when you are sitting with your group of 8 if everyone in the group is comfortable with that.
If there is bad weather in the forecast we will move the ceremony inside to the high school gymnasium and 4 people would be allowed to attend for each student. We look forward to a wonderful ceremony and we are excited for our graduating seniors and the great things on the horizon for them in their futures. If we make the decision to move the ceremony inside we will try and send out a thrillshare and post it on our website on Friday, May 28th in the morning.
8th Grade Promotion Tuesday, June 2nd @ 10:00 a.m.
Our 8th grade promotion ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:00 a.m. We will have a short ceremony on that day and promote our 8th grade students to high school. Each student will be allowed to have 4 people in attendance for this ceremony. Masks will be required at the ceremony. Driftless Virtual Academy students are encouraged to attend the ceremony as well so we can acknowledge their movement from middle to high school.
Honors Advisory on Wednesdays
On Wednesdays if a student is in honors advisory and the advisory falls on 1st or 4th block that student is allowed to have a late start or early release if they have transportation. The student must be in honors for that to be an option, which means all A's and B's and no missing work. If they have meetings that they need to attend during those times they are still expected to attend those when they take place. This option is for high school age students only.
