Donations Needed - 8th Grade Snack-Tonics!
Hello Parents of 8th grade students!
It is coming up on the time of year when the 8th graders study Plate Tectonics. One way they really enjoy modeling the different type of plate boundaries, is to create “Snack-tonics”. Using graham crackers, frosting, and fruit roll-ups, students will be able to model the motions of the lithosphere, asthenosphere and how those motions affect oceanic crust and continental crust. In order to make snack-tonics, we need the “snacks”. It would be great to have enough materials for each student (90 students), but enough for a group of 2 is terrific too! Below is a list of what is needed.
Materials:
Graham Crackers (90 total)
Fruit roll-ups (1 fruit roll-up is enough for 4 students)
Pre-made frosting (1 tub is enough about 5 students)
If you are able and willing to donate, please contact me at awoxland@triton.k12.mn.us or 507.418.7510. Thank you!!!
STEAM Summit - UCR Regional Sports Center Rochester
Our 8th graders have the opportunity to attend the Rochester STEAM Summit on Tuesday, November 15th from noon to 2 pm. For those unfamiliar with the STEAM acronym, it covers science, technology, engineering, arts, and math related careers. This is a career fair put on by the Rochester Chamber of Commerce highlighting businesses that have career opportunities in these areas.
Permission slips will be handed out on Monday, but can also be accessed below.
Please direct questions to Mr. Ickler and Mrs. Woxland.
