A Note from Ms. Marlatt

Dear Second Creek families,


We can officially say now that we have made it!!! Summer Break starts now!

I want to thank you for your partnership this year, and for all of the things we were able to accomplish together.

I also want to share the line up of new teachers for next year. We are excited to welcome new staff and have a fresh start!

All, with the exception of Ms. Lowen (who retired) , have moved to new teaching adventures.


We look forward to some rest and are excited for what's to come! We will see you all on Back-to-School night!

Back-to-School Night - mark your calendars now!

We are looking forward to seeing all our amazing Bison at Back-to-School night for the new 23-24 school year. You will get a chance to meet administration, meet your teacher, meet our PTO, bring school supplies and tour the school.

Our PTO is planning a special time for new families to Second Creek to come together. We will have information, school tours and a chance for new parents to ask questions. If you know a family who is joining our school next year, please share this information with them!

Even though Chromebook are not going home with students this summer, Lexia and Dreambox programs can still be accessed with home computers, Anythink library computers or iPads.

Yard Signs to celebrate our bison

We are thankful to The Landing Place Church and their partnership with us. They are very generous and this time around, they have provided us with yard signs to celebrate our Bison. Next year, every time we celebrate our students in our Bison Strong parades, they will receive a yard sign. Thank you The Landing Place Church for this amazing gift!

Youth Summer Opportunities

The City of Brighton is recruiting for several exciting programs: The Brighton Youth Commission, The Brighton Youth Corps of Volunteers and the Growing Grads Entrepreneur Program.


Each of these are amazing opportunities for young people to have fun and grow as a leader. Please see flyers below for details:

Girls on the Run

We are so excited to offer this program next school year. Ms. Malloy, Ms. Sanchez and Ms. Trevino will be our coaches. Here is the information we know so far:



  • For girls entering 3rd-5th grade
  • 10 weeks; 2x a week practice
  • Practice begins the week of 9/11/23
  • $95 per girl (scholarships available) (includes the 5k race at the end of the season)
  • practices will be 2X a week - 3:30pm to 4:30pm (days TBD)
  • 16 open spots right now. '

I have a feeling the 16 spots will be gone soon, so if you are thinking about this for your daughter (s), don't delay!
