Tech2Teach 2018-19
Districts are invited to select two (2) candidates to participate in the Tech2Teach Professional Development series.
Sessions this year are designed to:
- Inspire and coach teachers to improve and integrate the use of technology
- Assist with helping teachers increase student engagement and learning with onsite visits by instructional technology staff
- Focus on specific pathways of instructional technology professional development applicable to specific content areas
- Develop efficient management of information
- Develop professional relationships for increased networking across Genesee GenNET participating districts.
The program this year will be separated in parts:
Part A Online - Educators nominated for Tech2Teach will explore short online modules, videos, discussion forums, individual reflections and an opportunity to put into practice what they have learned. During this phase, educators will be working with the EdTech team which can include direct support will be provided as the PD progresses.
Part B Face-2-face - Educators will gather from 3 - 6 PM to discuss ideas, explore implementation strategies and apply new learning. Dinner will be provided.
- Completion of online content
- Attendance at face-to-face sessions
- Stipend awarded may be used any way a teacher would like to use it!

Who would be a good candidate to participate in GenNET Tech2Teach?
Choosing candidates to participate in Tech2Teach could be those who want to;
- Learn more about increasing use and integration of technology to increase student achievement.
- Find new Innovative ways to improve existing units/lessons by integrating technology
- Stay Open to learning ways to manage digital information.
- Be creative, innovative and open to a 21st Century blended learning approach to teaching
District candidate selection process
- Each district may send up to two (2) teachers
- Preferably nominate educators from various levels (elementary, secondary, etc.)
- Local district administrative staff may consider former Pioneers or Tech2Teach Participants
GenNET Tech2Teach is about "IDEAS!" Participants will:
- Identify pathways of learning that is relevant or best matches their technology readiness
- Demonstrate proficient use of various tools identified within chosen strands
- Ensure the integration of technology tools into existing units/lessons with their students based on new pathways for learning
- Apply the integrated lessons/units in their classrooms with their students
- Share with building staff and administration results of their pathway of learning efforts
