Principal's Message
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! It was wonderful to see all the students come back to school on Monday. I can't believe that they will be back on break in 2 weeks. And I bet you can not either!
As you will see in this week's newsletter there are some exciting events happening around school. One of the first events is that we have is the Good Morning Bus Challenge. Yes, this is very exciting! All students who ride the bus in the mornings are competing to see what bus can say the most "good morning's" to me as they walk off the bus. It is so exciting to see and hear all the students excited to exit the bus just to say "good morning". The bus winner will be announced during the last week of school for the 2018 school year. Ask your bus riders who they think is winning.
Another exciting event happening around school is the Book Fair! And here is the best part. Just because it is Friday does not mean that it is over! The Book Fair will be open on Saturday, December 1st at the Skyline Pop up Shop! Yes, I know! Can you believe it? So grab your wallets and cans of food to donate to the Pop-up Shop and come on up. It is a great way to stock up on winter gifts and books for family and friends! I look forward to seeing you all there.
As Ms. Aguirre will not be returning until after the winter break and Ms. Couch has been on vacation and will be returning on Monday, December 3rd, I have been filling in this week. It has been so fun to watch all the students in the Book Fair, in their classes, at lunch/recess and all around school. We truly have an amazing group of staff, students, parents, and community members. Something definitely to be thankful for. Thank you all for all your support and for sharing your students with us.

Counselor's Corner
Hello Skyline families,
The week of January 28th-February 1st, Skyline will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge. We will be engaging in kindness activities throughout the week and students will be completing kindness challenge checklists. As part of the week, we will be incorporating “No Name Calling” activities and gathering socks for local homeless shelters. Stay tuned for more details.
The week of December 10th-14th, students have earned a spirit week. They earned it by filling a whole garbage bag with golden eagle tickets. It is a huge accomplishment. Spirit week will include crazy hair day, dress like a teacher day, sports fan day, dress like your favorite book character, and pajama day. A specific email with the spirit days will be sent out next week.
Have a wonderful week,
Amy Gervais

This month we have been celebrating being an inquirer. On Friday, December 7th at 8:45 am we will be holding our assembly to celebrate all students who were nominated by their teacher as the one who demonstrates being an Inquirer.
As an Inquirer:
We nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.
Letters to nominated students and their families will come home on Monday. I look forward to celebrating with all our nominees and the school as a whole! For the short month of December, we will be focusing on the IB trait of being a Thinker
To be an IB Thinker:
We use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse and take responsible action on complex problems. We exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions.

Middle School Choir
By popular demand! All middle school students are invited to participate in Choir.
When: Wednesday mornings when buses arrive until 8:41 (15-minute sessions each week)
How: Students who are interested should attend the short sessions on Wednesdays. Students will receive via email links to the recordings for parts of each song. They will then learn their part on their own time. Students will then sing these parts together as a Choir during our short Wednesday sessions. When a song comes together and is polished and ready, the Choir will perform for a school assembly or even the school talent show!
Thank you!

A Thanksgiving Message
In this season of Thanksgiving, the Skyline Foundation and PTA would like to sincerely thank those families who have participated in our fundraising efforts so far this year. Your commitment to our kids shows you believe education is important, and you are stepping up to do your part in making sure Skyline reaches its fundraising goal.
So far we have raised $13,021!!
Attention all Intel Employees!
1. The program will transition to quarterly matching goals that have a budget cap!
2. You can give to any eligible cause, which will be matched up to $10,000 per year, funding permitting. Ok, this last one is IMPORTANT!
3. Match requests must be submitted WITHIN 30 DAYS of the date of the donation! So, if you attend the Skyline auction on March 16th (and who wouldn’t? It’s going to be awesome!), this means you have until April 16th to get your auction donations submitted!! Thank you!!

Soup - Story - Celebration
Sponsored by the Safety and Place Based History Committees
Linnton Community Center
Join us for an evening of storytelling, art and soup as we celebrate the history of Linnton with art, music and storytelling. What was Linnton like for children in the early 1900's? Come hear of the adventures, challenges and mishaps of Linnton and its many hills.
Come share your ideas for the new banners on St. Helens Road. What images and worlds best describe our communities and how might we share that with people visiting our town? We'll have art materials to help you design an idea for highway banners as well as make signs for roads that pass through Forest Park and a contest for a Welcome to Linnton Billboard.
Please text 503-805-4680 if you can help with desserts or a crock pot of soup. Know a tale or a person who might share a story from long ago, please let us know so we can contact them.
