What is body image?
Body image is how one views themselves. It is important to everyone because the media makes us feel less of a person, less beautiful, and less in general about the way we look. Having confidence in ones body image and beauty is a positive feeling that everyone should feel about themselves no matter the shape or size.
Eating Disorders
The media is the largest cause in creating eating disorders. Most of these people are teens. Teens are so easily influenced by media and are already in vulnerable states of mind in regards to their bodies. They stop eating to become the only image of models we see, tall, skinny, lanky, and beautiful.
Judging Others
We need to avoid judgement on others based on only one opinion of the way a body should look based on the media. We need to realize everyone is beautiful in their own way in size and appearance. No one, not even the same models themselves look like that in real life because they are edited and modified to look certain ways. We have such a distorted view on beauty.
5 Steps of Advice
1) Know you are beautiful no matter what the media says.
2) The way the media portrays beauty is false.
3) Understand starving yourself for false views of beauty isn't worth it with risk of serious health effects.
4) There is more to you than your appearance.
5) The most important thing is to be happy with the way you look, your body image, and the way you see yourself.
