Principal's Message - Sept. 30 (English)

Happy Wednesday!

As many of you know, Ms. Margetts and I were gone at the Archdiocesan Principal's Retreat in Silverdale at the end of last week. The focus of the retreat was the role of evangelization in Catholic schools. The talks were presented by Doug Tooke (http://dougtooke.com/about/), of Helena, Montana. Mr. Tooke reminded us that, regardless of the other programs and services we provide in our Catholic schools, we are first and foremost a Catholic school. We must promote the faith through our words and deeds. We must live our faith every single day and inspire the students and families in our care. Whether you are Catholic or not, in the Holy Rosary community, we are all called to spread the Gospel message of love and service to others. This is a very universal message and one that I see every day as I watch staff, parents, and students sharing their talents within our school community. One thing that you can do to support us is to pray for the teachers, staff, and students of our community. We have so much work to accomplish this year and we are grateful for all of your support and prayers in making it happen!

Have a wonderful week!

Looking for Auction/Crab Feed Committee Members!
Please consider joining this school committee. The crab feed is a very important fundraiser for our school and requires a lot of help to make it a success. This event is a great way to get a bulk of your volunteer hours complete, 15 for single parent families, and 30 hours for two parent households. Please email: smckinney@hrrsjda.org if you would like to participate. The first committee meeting will be Wednesday, September 30th at 5:30 pm. Even if you are unable to participate on the committee, we can still use help as the event approaches with set-up, event staff, and clean-up after the event. This event is a lot of fun and we'd love your assistance! It's also a great way to get to know other families in the Holy Rosary community.

Update on Spanish/English Adult Classes

Thank you to all the families who took part in our survey last week. We will be announcing the schedule for adult language classes very soon. So far, it seems like there is a great deal of interest in the Spanish classes and very little in the English classes. If you did not respond to the survey, please email the office directly this week, so that your vote can be counted. The email is: office@hrrsjda.org.

Volunteer Protocol

At Holy Rosary, we love volunteers!! Our school could not function without help from our parents and the greater community. Just a few reminders, though, as you think about ways to volunteer this year.

  • All new volunteers must have been cleared through Virtus (attend the 3 hour class and submit to a background check). Go to https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/ and click on Registration. If you took a 3 hr class through SetaNet/Safe Environment in a prior year and have done your annual online upates, you should be fine for now. Renewals through Virtus will be coming soon.
  • If you would like to volunteer in your child's classroom, please check in with the teacher directly to see what the needs are and the process for volunteering.
  • All volunteers MUST stop in at the office first to check in. Also, please make sure to sign the Volunteer Hours sheet, so that we can track your Commitment Hours for the year.

Thank you for all you do to make Holy Rosary an excellent school!!
