Is it Worth it?

Immediate Side Effects

Smoking just one pack can already be affecting your body. Circulation of your blood can slow, and that means you don't recover from being cold very quickly. Your finger and toenails can yellow and your face will age quicker than normal. If you continue smoking through your teenage years, you can look over 50 years old at the age of 30!

Long Term Side Effects

You have learned how smoking cigarettes can affect you smoking one or two packs, but there are even more serious side effects if you are a constant smoker for many years. Many types of cancer including lung cancer, mouth cancer, and throat cancer can be caused by the ingredients in cigarettes. Emphysema is also a serious side effect in which holes in your lungs stretch out too far. But, in the end, the most frightening side effect is simply death. People who smoke are predicted to die 14 years sooner than a non-smoker. I don't know about you, but I would take those 14 years over 20 minutes of smoking.

Just Plain Gross!

Imagine eating rat poison, nail polish remover, and explosives all at once! When you smoke a cigarette, you are putting all of that into your body, plus over 500 more harmful chemicals. these chemicals include:

  • Ammonia
  • Formaldehyde
  • DDT
  • Cadmium
  • Butane
  • Lead
And many more! The question is, why would someone want to put all of that into their system for no reason?
