Bronco Nation Update
We are Bronco Nation. We will leave a LEGACY.
Talk About College Thursdays @ Legacy
Each week, we will highlight one college or trade school or military option for students through school wide announcements. We share the size of the institution, the cost of attendance, the location, and any positives/well known facts about the school or organization.
Legacy teachers and staff also wear t-shirts representing various higher education schools so that students are exposed to the many options they have before them.
We ask our kids to "Think about it!" each week as they listen to the announcements. We want our students to know that anything is possible if you are willing to put the work in to achieve it.
MISD College Testing Day 2021 - Options for Seniors
The College Day of Testing is Wednesday, October 13th.
On this day, seniors will have the opportunities to participate in a variety of college & career activities.
Your choice of activities include: taking the ASVAB exam, taking a college day, or participating in FAFSA and other senior college and career readiness activities. Attached is the QR code for you to decide which activity you will be participating in on Wednesday, October 13th.
Please remember that if you are taking a college day, you must complete the required college visit authorization form so that you do not get counted absent. If you chose the FAFSA and Senior Activities, you need to request your FAFSA pin 2-3 days before Wednesday, October 13th. (Mrs. Vorsino sent an email earlier this week with the steps to request a FASFA pin.)
The deadline to decide is Friday, October 1st.

Final Exam Exemptions
(From page 101-103 of the MISD Student Handbook)
MISD High School Semester Exam Exemption Guidelines
*An Exam Exemption gives students the ability to not take the final exam in a selected course(s).
Based on the following criteria, each high school student may earn two (2) exam exemptions in the fall semester and two (2) exemptions in the spring semester by obtaining,
- a semester average of 80 or higher in the class for which the student is seeking an exam exemption
Advanced Placement Exam Exemption (Spring Semester Only) A student taking an Advanced Placement course may earn additional exemptions to the above by obtaining,
• an un-weighted semester average of 80 or higher in the related AP class
Disqualification for Exemptions
Students do not qualify for any of their semester exam exemptions for the semester if the student
• receives a disciplinary assignment to on-campus suspension (AC/ISS),
• receives a disciplinary assignment to off-campus suspension or alternate education program(s) (BIC and/or JJAEP), or
• absence fails any class during the semester
Final Exams will be held during the week of Dec 14-17.
PTSA Program Coming Soon
We have a program set for after the meeting on October 25th at 7:00 p.m. It is Doug Bryan and his program is "“How to Pay For College Without Going Broke".
Constitution Day Observance
MISD Dress Code Expectations
Students are expected to be compliant with dress code expectations each day. If students arrive at school out of dress code, an administrator asks them to change clothes to become compliant. Every student is given the opportunity to change their clothes in order to "fix" the dress code concern before the first period of the day.
If a student refuses to change their clothes, then the student's parents are called for a discipline conference.
Our administrative team very rarely calls parents for dress code concerns. Dress code discipline usually represents less than 5% of our yearly discipline load. In 2019-20 (our last full school year with the majority of our students on campus), we worked 20 referrals for dress code violations. We had a total of 1117 total referrals for that school year. That means that dress code was only 2% of our entire discipline load for the year.
Please refer to the MISD Dress Code in the MISD Student Handbook. Click here to see the handbook: Handbook
*The dress code explanation starts on page 44 of the handbook.
