The Louisiana Purchase
By: Michael Anderson
What Was the Louisianna purchase?
In 1803 President Thomas Jefferson wanted to buy land from the French. That land was the louisiana teritory. It spanned 2,100,000 sq km and covered 15 states. We bought it for about 15 million dollers (3 cents an acre). When he bought it, he wanted to have more land and resources like farm land, lumber, and controll over the New Orleans port.
What Happend After the Purchase?
America benefited from the purchase with land, crops, and the new Orleans port so America was doing very well. With the purchase of this new territory, the land area of America nearly doubled. However, the exact southern and western boundaries were not defined in the purchase.
