ELEMENTARY REPORT CARD REVISIONS
As you know, one goal of the Central Bucks School District is to revise our current elementary reporting tools. As we work to finalize our new reporting system, we want to continue to offer resources to help facilitate the transition to the “new” report card, and explain the rationale and offer some insight into the work that has been done thus far.
We invite you to attend one of our three cluster meetings. District clusters include all elementary schools affiliated with each high school attendance area. In each one-hour meeting, we will define the goals of a standards-based reporting system by highlighting the characteristics that enhance our educational programming for elementary school children. For more information and meeting times and locations please click here.

HOME & SCHOOL NOMINATING COMMITTEE
For many parent volunteers, this is the time of year to consider joining the parent group in an official role. Elections will be coming in the spring and these last weeks of winter are a perfect time to mull over this decision.
The Bridge Valley H&S Association will be holding elections for three positions for the 2014-2016 school years. The positions are
- Co-President
- Vice President/Assistant Treasurer
- Secretary
- Support Staff Representative
Mrs. Meredith Eater (Outgoing Co-President) is the Executive Board member coordinating the Nominating Committee this year. At least two general membership members are also needed for the nominating committee. If you are interested in helping out with the committee or in running for any of the open positions, please contact Mrs. Eater at meater@verizon.net by Friday, March 21, 2014.
Elections will be held at the final meeting in June.

DAILY ATTENDANCE REMINDER
This is a reminder about the importance of daily school attendance. Regular and punctual attendance is necessary for students to develop self-discipline, responsibility and work habits that will affect success throughout life.
Students who have regular attendance generally achieve higher academic success and enjoy school more. Frequent tardiness or early dismissal disrupts the continuity of the instructional process and eliminates your child from enriching classroom experiences. A great deal occurs in those first few and/or last few minutes of the day and contributes to a successful day for your child.
Parents of students who are habitually tardy or absent will receive notification from the school office, and may be asked to meet with the building principal to discuss attendance policies and ways to ensure the student is attending school. Continued tardies and early dismissals do accumulate to add up to a full day’s recorded absence.
We do understand that at times, there may be unusual circumstances and the BV staff will be happy to work with parents and student during these times.
Our students’ success is the number one priority. This can’t happen without them being here. We ask that your children please be present and be counted each day, all day and every day.
Birthday Celebration Reminders!!
We have been asked to again remind all parents to refrain from sending edible treats for birthday celebrations. Parents/students bringing in food treats will be asked to take them home. Instead, we ask that you please look for ways to celebrate that do not include food. Some ideas include:
- PENCILS
- ERASERS
- BOOKMARKS
- STICKERS
- DECKS OF CARDS
- MINI PUZZLE BOOKS
- PARTY FAVORS (bouncy balls, matchbox cars, erasers, tops, magnifying glasses, notepads, etc.)
- BOOK DONATION TO CLASSROOM LIBRARY OR SCHOOL LIBRARY IN YOUR CHILD'S NAME
- BOARD GAME DONATION TO CLASSROOM FOR INDOOR RECESS
- ARRANGE TO COME IN AND READ TO THE CLASS
Thank you for your adherence to this as it is difficult to manage the many needs/preferences of our individual students and/or parents and food choices.
