MN Studies - 6th grade with Ms. Walter

Students in Minnesota Studies created personal Winter Counts last week and have been becoming Winter Count Keepers. "A winter count was one such tool that certain Native American communities of the Northern Great Plains region used to help record their histories and to keep track of the passage of years".

Feel free to check out their Flipgrid videos where they are sharing their oral histories. (More were turned in, but only some students gave permission to show theirs with all of you.)

https://flipgrid.com/7c74d54b or Use Join CODE: 7c74d54b if you're using the Flipgrid app.

If you would like to learn more about the Lakota Winter Counts, please check out the slides (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1rhTP0z5uTs4_Pf8qIJd-1WUT7qMohUEFJTAoHBgsJEE/edit?usp=sharing) from last week's lesson. You can also take a look at these winter counts in depth by checking out this website. You can really zoom in and see the details of the winter counts. https://www.si.edu/object/nmnhanthropology_11546000

Just wanted to share the cool things that the students are doing in MN Studies and it's always fun to learn more about our students.

Mr. Kowalski - 8th grade

Science 8 Important Update! Due to the change in the school schedule by the district, the Chapter 3 TEST on Minerals has been moved to THURSDAY DECEMBER 16th! Students will still receive the same amount of preparation prior to the test. Mr. Kowalski
