The Cyclone Watch
Jefferson Middle School - May 2019
From the Principal
As this is our last official Cyclone Watch of the school year, I want to offer my sincere thanks to all parents, staff, students, and our community in helping to make this an excellent school year. We are all very proud of the growth our students have demonstrated over this school year.
We also appreciate your continued support in assisting us with student attendance over the last month of school. We have still have state testing, field trips, and finals yet to come. Our goal is to finish this school year on a strong and positive note by reaching our goal of 90% attendance.
We are also very proud of our three Partners in Education who support us each year. Columbia College, the Missouri United Methodist Church, and Boone Hospital continue to play a significant role in our efforts to be the best middle school in the state. This year we celebrate our 35th year of partnership with Boone Hospital. We thank them for their long and continuous service to our students.

· Meningococcal-meningitis vaccine
If your child has received a recent Tdap and/or meningitis vaccine, please send written proof of the immunization to your school nurse or have the health care provider fax the immunization record to the school nurse at 573-214-3399.
If your child has not received these vaccines, the immunizations need to be completed before they can attend 2019 summer school and /or receive schedules for the 2019-2020 school year next August.

**All students are allowed to carry a water bottle during the school day. As the weather warms up, please encourage your student to stay well hydrated. This can help prevent headaches and decrease dizziness due to lack of water. It should be a clear and unbreakable bottle that fits in their drawstring bag; label with their name. **
**Spring allergies are here. Your student can carry cold and allergy medication and over the counter pain reliever in a labeled container. Students with allergy symptoms have difficulty concentrating in class. Help your student feel and learn better.**

Safety News
Parents thank you for helping us keep students safe during drop off and pick up. Please remember that we are in a school zone area and the speed limit is 20 or below. Also remember that this is a two way street, so it is really important to stay in the drop off line after your child has gotten out of the car. Additionally, please remind your child that they need to be ready to get out of the car in the morning when you pull up to the drop off area.
