The Mustang Round Up!

September Update

Monthly Update

Our 2021-2022 school year is off and running! Melba Elementary Staff members are busy teaching the Mustang routines and procedures to our students. We are already hard at work starting our curriculum and gathering all of our assessment information. It has been fun to see our new Kindergarteners learn how to walk through the hallways and make their way through the lunch lines. Our sixth graders are transitioning into our new schedule and learning how to attend multiple classes in one day. Lots of progress already happening!

We are excited to work with you this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact us throughout this year for any questions or concerns you may have. Our teachers have sent invites out to you to join either Class DoJo or Seesaw. Please make sure that you have joined these communication programs. Both Class DoJo and Seesaw allow teachers to communicate with you quickly and share pictures as well as student work.

I cannot wait to see everything that we accomplish this year! It is going to be a great year! I am so thankful to be Melba Elementary School's principal and work alongside such an amazing community and staff. Go Mustangs!

No school Monday, September 6th for Labor Day. Don't forget to mark your calendars!

Melba Elementary Scored Top Ten!

Istation Assessment

I am so excited to share with you that Melba Elementary scored in the top ten in the state for our proficiency scores on the Istation assessment this last May. Students in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and third grade take the Istation assessment each month to monitor their understanding of literacy concepts such as vocabulary, text fluency, and comprehension. Scores from this assessment are reported to the state of Idaho for the months of August and May. This last year our primary students demonstrated over 80% proficiency in all grade levels and placed sixth in the state overall!!! What an accomplishment! This goes to prove that we have very hardworking and dedicated students and teachers!

Our teachers have set some high goals for this year and are eager to accomplish them! Let's do it!

Mustangs SHINE! Team Melba: Work Like a Champion!

We will be continuing our schoolwide focus of "Mustangs SHINE" this school year in conjunction with our theme of "Team Melba: Work Like a Champion!" Students are already focusing on the "S" in SHINE which stands for shows responsibility and are receiving stars on a daily basis when they are caught being responsible. Please be sure to talk to your child each day about the different ways they demonstrated responsibility at school and begin brainstorming great ways to demonstrate responsibility at home as well.

The grade level at the end of September with the most stars collected will earn a Root Beer Float party. Let's see who the winner is going to be!
