CMEA Weekly News
August 17th, 2023
Special thanks to all the kindergarteners and their parents who stopped by our signing booth and Boohoo Woohoo event last week! We can already tell that this is a FANTASTIC bunch!
Back to School Night Celebration
Please join us to celebrate returning to school on August 18th, from 5-8 p.m., at the field adjacent to the school. There will be outdoor games, a DJ, raffle, Just-a-Buck Truck, Kona Ice, and a prize for the class who has the most attendees. There will also be some fun spirit items available for sale, including our yard signs.
Check out the Just-a-Buck Truck menu here (pre-ordering will be available the day of the event): Just-a-Buck Truck Food Menu.
The best part? 10% of proceeds from Just-a-Buck Truck and 20% of proceeds from Kona Ice will be donated back to our school!
And if you're up for some extra fun, we need a few volunteers to help us make our Back to School Night Celebration run smoothly. Take a look at the available 1-hour shifts and please consider volunteering. See you there!

CMEA Volunteer Kickoff Fiesta
Wondering what the CMEA (PTO) is all about? Come join us for a laid-back get-together to discuss all-things CMEA. From Spirit Nights to the Spirit Rock, we'll cover it all. And no worries if you're on the fence about becoming a volunteer. We would still love to have your input!

First PTO Meeting of the Year
When: September 12th
Where: Via Zoom
What Time: 7 p.m.

Let Us Know Your Child's T-Shirt Size!
If you haven’t selected your child’s shirt size, please do so here: Student Shirt Size.
Each year, thanks to our community and fundraising, CMEA orders and provides a FREE T-shirt to all students and staff based on our school theme for the year. This year's school theme is based on the book The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig.
Got Pics?
Please share your back to school photos -- and any other fun CME moments that you've captured -- with our Copper Mesa Yearbook Committee at coppermesayearbook@gmail.com to help us create a more memorable yearbook. Be sure to include your student’s grade and teacher with each submission.
We are able to do so many events and fundraisers for our school because of the wonderful volunteers we have. If you are interested in helping our efforts, please let us know by completing our online form and indicating the areas you would like to help us with this year: Volunteer Form.
Thanks to those who volunteered to help with Vision & Hearing Screenings and Picture Day!

Boosterthon Obstacle Course: 9/1
To make our Cougar Ninja Course a success, we need parent volunteers to help monitor each obstacle and assist any children who may need a helping hand or a word of encouragement to keep going.
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
CMEA hosts two large fundraisers: one in the fall and one in the spring. Between these two fundraisers, there are optional Spirit Nights at local establishments. Just last year, we were able to obtain enough funds to completely update our book selection in the library!

COPPER MESA YEARBOOK
Help us create a memorable yearbook by sharing your pictures with our yearbook committee. This can be at school events, the Spirit Rock, class parties, class field trips, school clubs, etc. Please email photos to coppermesayearbook@gmail.com and include your child’s name and teacher.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year, our total donation received is typically in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so. It’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
- Visit kingsooperscommunityrewards.com.
- Sign in or register with your King Soopers card or phone number.
- Click on Enroll.
- Search by school code (AB638) or organization name (Copper Mesa Elementary School - CMEA).
RENT THE ROCK!
Don’t forget to reserve the Spirit Rock for your special dates! Sign up HERE for the date you need and submit payment through MySchoolBucks or drop off cash/checks at the front office.
**Please remember: Reservations do not begin until 4:00 pm the day prior to your reservation. Rock painting should not begin prior to 4:00 p.m. We appreciate your cooperation.**
MILK CAPS FOR MOOLA
We are collecting Longmont Dairy Milk Caps again this year. There is a box near the front office desk where you can deposit them. Thank you!
