God Gave Me a Family & God Wants My Family to Obey Him
This Sunday preschoolers are learning "God Gave Me a Family" (Genesis 2-4) while elementary kids are learning "God Wants My Family to Obey Him" (Genesis 5-9).
As we look at the story of Noah's family that we're teaching kids on Sunday, I think about who Noah knew the Lord to be. Before the floodwaters came, before God told him to build the ark, before the future covenants that the Lord would make with him, NOAH WALKED WITH GOD (Genesis 5:9). His obedience was fueled by his relationship. But Noah's obedience didn't just affect him, it left a legacy of faith for generations to come. From Noah's family line came Abraham, the Israelites, David, and JESUS! He left an impact that we're still feeling today!
So remember that in context of your life today! Your obedience is the way you get to walk out your faith; it's fueled by your relationship with the creator of the universe, your father. It's not a small thing! Don't lose heart! Even when the flood was over, the waiting for Noah wasn't over yet. You're storing away treasures and building a legacy of faith for those who will come after you.
