"Shrek - The Musical" Opens this Weekend!

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Join us this weekend at FRHS for the opening of Shrek, the Musical!

Timber Creek Theatre Presents Triangle, by Laurie Brooks

Triangle is based on the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York and follows the story of a present-day teenage girl, a child of immigrant parents, who encounters the spirits of the factory workers who died in the fire. It's a piece that is both haunting and timely.

Triangle opens Friday, October 2 at 7:00 pm, and continues Saturday and Sunday evening at 7:00, with a matinee Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm.

New Teacher Spotlight!

This year, Keller ISD Fine Arts welcomed over 30 new teachers! Some are beginning their first year, others came to us from other districts. But ALL of them are incredibly talented, and excited to be a part of Keller ISD!

Over the next few weeks we will introduce them to you here!

Mallory Puskar - Art Teacher, Keller Middle School

Mallory is in her first year teaching Middle School and she says it's already a joy! She grew up in Roanoke, TX right down the road from Keller! She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Art Education, and resides in the wonderful, 2014 #1 Small Town in America, Denton, TX! Mallory taught Elementary Art for one year and absolutely loved watching young creative minds come to life. This year, with Middle School, she looks forward to helping her students find their artistic paths and gear them up for their future art endeavors.

She's inspired by children and their ability to create without fear, and she tries to take that inspiration and incorporate it into her own work as an Artist.

She is just kick starting her career as an Art Teacher but she has big plans this year for KMS!

Clinton Hardy - Associate Choir Director, Central High School

Clint is beginning his 6th year of teaching. He has spent the last 3 years as the head choir director at Linda Jobe MS in Mansfield, TX. Last year, he took 5 middle school choirs to U.I.L. Concert & Sight-Reading Contest, and they all received Sweepstakes Awards.

Choirs under his direction consistently receive sweepstakes awards. He was named as the 2014 “Teacher of the Year” for Linda Jobe MS. He also received TCDA’s 2014 “Young Director of Distinction” award.

Clint graduated from Texas Christian University in 2009 with his Bachelor’s in Music Education. He is thrilled to be part of KISD and is looking forward to an amazing year ahead!

Cheri Baxter - Art Teacher, Lone Star Elementary

Cheri Baxter has taught for 20 years, with 15 at Lone Star Elementary and in Keller ISD! She has taught every elementary grade except second.

Her fantastic husband, James, and two boys Harrison (a sophomore) and Wyatt (an 8th grader) keep her busy and grounded.

She is thrilled about being in fine arts and inspiring children to love the Arts!

KISD Fine Arts "Round of Applause!"

The "Round of Applause" provides an opportunity for teachers, students, families, community members, etc, to publicly show their appreciation to others for going above and beyond!

A Round of Applause to High School Art Teacher Chrissy Fitch for painting the amazing mural on the wall of the new KISD fine arts office!

Submit your own "Round of Applause" here!
