Populous Movement

Emily Boody - James Sparkman

What is Populism?

Populism is a political movement of the common people that resulted in the formation of the People's party.

The Goals of the Populists

The goal of the Populists was to replace the Democrats as the nation's second party. They formed an alliance with the farmers of the South and West and the industrial workers of the East. They also wanted to have free coinage of silver, abolition of national banks, a graduated income tax, election of Senators of direct votes and more.
