From Your Pastors
We welcome to campus this weekend Rev. Zach McIntosh and his wife Melody. Pastor McIntosh serves as executive pastor at Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio and is one of two finalists in our search for a new senior pastor. This Saturday members can greet Pastor Zach and his wife at 1 PM in the Worship Center. He will provide some background information and then answer questions. Please take the time to join us for that event. They will also be attending the Round Rock Express game Friday evening. A similar event will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1 PM in the Worship Center for Rev. Chris Singer from Trinity Lutheran Church in Klein, TX. Keep the call process in your prayers as it continues to move forward.
Our current message series entitled “Building Resilience in Challenging Times” continues this week as we look at Joseph. The series is built on Is. 40.31 – Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. We are examining the resilient faith of Old Testament individuals and what we can learn from them that can be applied to our life today.
Next Tuesday marks the 140th anniversary of Zion Lutheran Church & School. A group of nine individuals met May 14, 1882, to charter Zion. At the time, the village of Walburg was known as Concordia. The church was dedicated on Sept. 13, 1882, and the first pastor installed at that service, Rev. J.M. Maisch. School classes were taught by Pastor Maisch in the first church building. On Tuesday take a few minutes to stop and pray for the continued ministry of both the church and school. The Lord has done great things through our congregation and will continue to richly bless us as we move forward with our mission and ministry!
Take advantage of our fall “Connection” schedule with a full slate of activities and Bible study classes for all ages beginning at 9:30 AM. Three adult Bible studies are being offered along with Kids Connect and activities for junior and senior high students.
If you need to miss a Sunday due to travel plans, you can always view the messages and worship services archived on our website: www.zionwalburg.org. Please keep your pastors informed on how we can be a blessing to you and your family. Call (512.863.3065) or email the church office (church@zionwalburg.org) with any news to share. See you Sunday!

Wurstbraten - How the Torch is Passed!
In this announcement I would like to encourage anyone who was at the first Wurstbraten or got involved later to relate how they got involved, what they started doing and how they got to be involved to the point where they are now. This is especially relevant for those who are now considered captains. If you have a special memory of how you saw this relatively small activity blossom and morph into what it has become I am hoping that you would share this with the rest of us. Please send it to me by email or put it in the box.
If you would like to be part of the process to come up with the design and implementation please contact Weldon at 512-635-6429 or email at 49weldon72@gmail.com.

Laundry Love
Zion hosted a Laundry Love event on August 25 at Washitopia in Georgetown.
Zion members helped those in need to launder 175 loads which amounted to 6,600 lbs. of laundry. A record!! Thank you to our Zion Mission Board for supporting this community outreach.
Thank you also to a great team of volunteers who shared the love of Christ by serving others.
The Lutheran Hour
In July, LHM staff traveled to Houston, Texas for the LCMS Youth Gathering. This event is the largest gathering of members in our synod, with 20,000 youth and adults in attendance. This gathering happens every three years and is an incredible opportunity for LHM to engage with youth. This year, LHM was a major sponsor, participating with a large booth, multiple presentations, and giveaways.
Following the overall theme of "In All Things", LHM Staff prepared presentations that spoke to both youth and adult participants. "LHM was humbled to be a major sponsor of the LCMS Youth Gathering," said Nicole Heerlein. "As a result, we had the opportunity to engage with youth before the Bible Studies and entertainment activities, in addition to our booth presence. We are grateful to ALL who support LHM in various ways, so we can participate in these experiences. Youth are "Eager to Share" their faith, and we enjoyed learning from them."
