Robin Hood Library @The Bay School
Welcome back for our 2015-2016 school year!
Big changes in our library program
I am so excited that we are now a Google Apps for Education school. What this means for us is that we are better able to collaborate, communicate, and educate our students through GAFE. We can share our work, interact with our students and parents, and keep everyone "on the same page" at the Bay School.
We are excited that the Empire State Information Fluency Continuum (EIFC), which was part of a team effort of NYC school librarians led by Barbara Stripling, was adopted by our State Education Department and featured prominently on its EngageNY website. I am proud to have worked on this document and its assessments with my librarian colleagues in New York City, and I am excited to bring these skills to PS 105's teachers and students.
Learning to Research
Our students are learning Information Fluency skills using the Independent Investigation Method of Research (IIM).
Learning to Take Notes
Students learned to take "notefacts" in their own words.
Learning to Love a Story
I rearranged our soft seating area to welcome parents and students and to encourage them to gather in a comfortable place to enjoy stories and conversations.
Welcome Ms. Aguero!
This year we welcome Ms. Aguero to the library as our Robin Hood paraprofessional. Look for her sunny smile at the circulation desk.
