ALTA VISTA'S ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Throughout the month of November, our PAWS and Pride message at the end of the day on Wednesday is focusing on gratitude. Today, students heard that Thanksgiving is the perfect time to think about the people that make us happy. I suggested that they take some time during our break next week to give thanks and show their gratitude.
On behalf of the entire Alta Vista staff, I want to take a moment to express our gratitude and thanks. Thank you for entrusting us with your children every day. Thank you for always being there to help in a classroom, clean up the library, or volunteer for special events. Thank you for the kind words that we hear every day.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and make some memories to last a lifetime.
LAST DAY - SECOND HARVEST FOOD DRIVE
Thank you for your generous donations to our Second Harvest Food Drive. Our barrels are quickly filling up with boxes of cereal, cans of corn, and much more!
It's not too late to help us to feed hungry families from across Silicon Valley, but tomorrow morning is the last chance to bring in your donations. Second Harvest Food Bank's most needed items include canned foods, such as tuna, chicken, fruit, vegetables, soups and stews. Donations of peanut butter, cereal, granola bars, pasta, beans, and rice are also in high demand. If you would rather make a monetary (tax-deductible) donation, you can visit http://bit.ly/AVFoodDrive.
The competition between grade levels is tight because the group with the highest level of donations will be rewarded with an extra recess. And of course, we're looking forward to including a picture of the Alta Vista 100 Can Club in the yearbook. If you are making a monetary donation, each dollar will "count" as two cans towards the 100 Can Club. Please be sure to note your child's name on any monetary donations.
Thank you for helping us feed the need in our community!
