Dear Deerfield Families,
PLEASE keep your child home if they are ill and follow these simple rules to help stop the spread of illness.
You can help stop the spread of germs.
- While sick, limit your child's contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
- If your student is sick with flu-like symptoms, keep them home for at least 24 hours until the fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (A fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
- Teach your child to cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after use and wash hands.
- Teach your child the importance of handwashing! Wash hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Teach your child to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
Again, please do NOT send your child to school if they are sick. It is common to have larger volumes of students with respiratory illness and fever during this time of year and cases of influenza often peak in the month of February.
For more information please visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/preventing.htm
Diversity Map
To illustrate the diversity of our school, we would like to have students (who would like to participate) pin the location of their family’s historical origin on a map. Since many students may not know this information, we are asking parents/guardians (who would like their child to participate) to complete the attahced questionnaire with their child. We also sent home a hard copy of the questionnaire. The map will be located in our library.

Parents--
Be informed about the dangers of technology on young brains and self-esteem. Learn how to lock down access for your kids, educate yourself on popular apps and understand content in front of your young learners.

REPEATS and REMINDERS
Building Reminders
Building Secure 8:00 am-6:00 pm
Deerfield entrances are locked at 8:00 (or very soon after). We must insist that all parents exit the building immediately when class begins at 8:00 am.
As a reminder, parents are welcome to walk students to class only if arriving before 8:00 am. Once the building is secured at 8:00, students will need to be dropped off at the office to get a tardy slip before walking to class. Parents will not be allowed to walk students to class after the 8:00 bell rings.
Those who have made arrangements with the teacher to visit or volunteer need to sign-in at the office and wear a Deerfield Visitor badge.
It's Getting Cold... School Doors Unlock at 7:35am
We must insist that your children not come to school before 7:35am. Doors are locked until this time. Students will not be allowed into the building because staff are not on duty to supervise. Thank you for your cooperation!
